1.1 Research Background
As the international language for most people in the world, English is importantin all kinds of field, according to the number people who use English as their nativelanguage, it is the third language in the world. English is most widely used languagein the world based on the land areas. Over 60% of letters which were wrote byEnglish, over 50% of magazines and newspapers were wrote by English. English iscloseness with computer, most of computer language were connect with English.while because of the widely used of the internet, English become popular. As china’sopening up to the world and economic globalization, the master of the English hasbecome more significant for Chinese students.English learning include four parts, reading, listening, speaking and writingwhile reading and listening belongs to language input, speaking and writing belongsto language output. As Reading is the most important part in English learning and themain means of language input, if students wants to learn English well, he should reada lot of reading materials. It is a complex process when you learn a second language.If a person intends to learn English, he/she should do lots of reading exercises.Through reading exercises, a person can acquire a wealth of knowledge andinformation which help him/her better understanding this language further .In addition,through reading comprehension, he /she can improve his /her basic language skills,such as listening, speaking, writing and translating. Thus reading accounts significantpart of English teaching and learning. In recent years, reading takes different forms inall kinds of English text, such as CET 4, CET 6, TEM 4,TEM 8, IELTES, TOEFiBT,英语论文范文,GRE, GMAT. If a person is weak at reading comprehension, he can not achieve scoreswhich he wants to get. Thus it is significant to enhance students reading ability.

1.2 Research Significance
According to the requirements of syllabus, non-English majors should havestrong ability to read. As English is a second language for our English learners. Thereare many differences between our native language and English. Thus causingdifficulty in reading. In order to break this obstacle, not only should we teach studentsreading knowledge and technique, but students need study themselves.Thecombination of meta-cognition and reading aims to solve problems during readingpractice.The meta-cognitive knowledge and meta-cognitive experience andmeta-cognitive regulation interact with each other in the reading practice, thisknowledge help students learn the strong and weak point in their study,meta-cognitive experience includes positive experience and negative experience. Thepositive experience of reading helps students increase their confidence, if teacher givepositive instruct on reading, students can learn better. Not only can meta-cognitiveregulation regulate students reading ability but help students improve their readingability. The application of meta-cognitive theory plays important role in reading.
