有人说,每一个中国高中学生每年要花费至少八百至九百课时英语。此外,英语论文范文,每名学生累计超过1001个学时,在学校所有的时间在中学和大学It is said that every high school student in China each year has to spend at least eighthundred to nine hundred class hours on English. Additionally, it takes every studentaccumulatively over one thousand and one hundred class hours in all the school time inthe middle school and university. However, the effect and results of study are not quitesatisfactory (Cheng & Zheng, 2017: I). In a quite baffling manner, this situation does notconform to the investment of tremendous money, enormous time and public resources. Aswe all know, learning is a lifelong task for all of us. Nevertheless, if we could not locatethe appropriate learning strategies for ourselves, effective learning would be a mere scrapof paper, not to mention the effective lifelong learning.Although the problems involves different aspects, the essence of this phenomenon isthat students have not grasped or mastered effective ways or strategies of Englishlearning. According to Wei Xianbin (2017), the understanding and conducting of teachingderive from many aspects such as the teacher's own experiences of being a student,especially the teaching method of the teacher's teacher. For example, if a teacher putmuch importance on explaining the meaning of every new word and give too muchweight to grammar, he would take meaning and grammar very seriously in hisimplementation of teaching. And sometimes, the inappropriate ways of teachingvocabulary may cause the deficiency of vocabulary ability, which in turn affects thespeed of reading and comprehension of reading materials. The deviation of someteachers' planning and conducting of English teaching fails to equip the students with thenecessary abilities to extract useful information and analyze it. Moreover, English is aforeign language in our country, but some middle schools neglect or overlook thisspecific character, and place emphasis on mere practice and presentation of rigid oralsentence patterns. By doing so, students probably can speak some rigid and fixedsentences and yet whether they can use the learned knowledge in their authenticcommunication with native speakers effectively remains doubtful ‘In today's learning society, reading as a basic learning skill is significant. Accordingto the National English Curriculum Standards (2017: 6),the overall objective of Englishcourse for basic education is to cultivate students' overall language ability,includinglanguage knowledge, language skills and learning strategies and so on. It is known to allthat reading plays a significant part in the four language skills. To cultivate students'reading strategies has become one of the basic ground rules and goals in the basiceducation in China {National English Curriculum Standards, 2017). Learning strategiescan effectively facilitate the learning process. Meanwhile, it is required that studentsshould be encouraged to develop effective learning strategies and autonomous learningabilities (Wang, 2017: 42).However, the examination-oriented education to cram knowledge into students'heads seems to stand in the way of improving their overall ability and competence,namely, the quality-oriented education.
