发音在英式英语和美式英语之间的异同相比,拼写,词的选择,风格,英语论文范文,语用,语法英式英语和美式英语之间的异同不是那么显眼和众多的。更重要的是,它是最混乱的扬声器遇到在其他各种文字组成的一个品种Compared with the differences between BrE and AmE in pronunciation, spelling, word choice, style, pragmatics, the grammatical difference between BrE and AmE is notthat conspicuous and numerous. What's more, it is the least confusing to speakers of onevariety encountering a text composed in the other variety (Algeo, 2017). Nevertheless, since current linguistics regards grammar as the core of a language system. Theattention paid to the differences between BrE and AmE has extended from lexical itemsto the grammatical usage. Many of linguists have set foot in this domain. John Algeohas done an experimental research on the grammatical differences between BrE andAmE and put his finding in Grammatical Difference between British English andAmerican English. Both Raymond Murphy's book English Grammar in Use andQuirk's A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language have mentioned thegrammatical difference between BrE and AmE. Besides, Cambridge Grammar ofEnglish as a worldwide grammar book has also covered this field. Actually, grammaticaldifferences between BrE and AmE are not in general rules of which grammar books aresupposed to be in charge. So grammar books cannot record them in a proper way whiledictionaries, as a complement to the grammar book, can make up for it. Englishlexicography is increasingly paying attention to the differences between nationalvarieties (Algeo, 2017). Since lexicographer's work is above all a descriptive activity, recording usage rather than laying down perspective or numerous rules about howwords should be used or which words are to be avoided, we can only find somescattering clues to the grammatical differences between BrE and AmE in dictionaries. As for such questions as whether grammatical differences have been introduced indictionaries specifically or not, how they are presented and if there are any other betterdemonstration ways, we will explore in this thesis.
