幼儿英语教学过程中的多元智能理论----Multiple intelligences theory in preschool children English teaching

1.1 Background of the Research
Since the 1990s,three major tendencies have presented in the international English teaching:low-ageing,combination with Educational researches,and penetration with subject contents,which substantially influenced domestic English education in China.In recent years, not only have schools in every level been historically attaching more importance to English teaching,but a number of kindergartens started preschool children English teaching as well. English teaching and learning at early stage,undoubtedly,should be regarded as a prominent integral part of elementary education.
In 2017,Chinese Education Department published English New Curriculum Standards, bringing English course started in junior middle school forward to primary stage as a required subject.So pre-school children English teaching,as the basic foundation of elementary education,plays an important role in bridging the preschool and primary education.The fundamental guarantee for the English quality of our new generations lies partially on the improvement of quality in the pre-school children English education.
English education in kindergartens has been recently initiated in China and,undoubtedly, has defectiveness in both teaching materials and models.And most English teaching in China can be classified into the TEFL,i.e.Teach English as Foreign Language rather than Second Language.English teachers in kindergartens are also less qualified,lacking professional knowledge either in English or in preschool children education.Considering children aged in 3-6 as a special group whose particular characteristics are,both physically and psychologically,different from the adolescent and adult,children English teaching has its particularity,requiring special teaching models and pedagogies. Contrasted with those in high school or colleges,children in preschool,as psychologists revealed,are characterized with their own incomparable advantages in English study.
Psychologists and neurologists indicate that the critical period for children language acquisition is younger than 6,and the optimal age is between 3 and 6.If received proper language education and appropriate stimulation,children’s linguistic competence can be fully developed.Furthermore,according to the neural physiological mechanism of speech research, it was suggested that children in 3-6 have opportunities to develop two or more language systems,so children in 3-6 are capable of learning a foreign language.Besides all the physiological dominance mentioned above,the superiority can also get full-represented in their vigorous thirsts for knowledge,higher competence of imitation and memorization and fewer psychological pressures,all of which can facilitate the exploitation of their capability. English education in kindergarten benefits children to all aspects,rather confines in the language acquisition,for English learning is kind of positive mental and cognitive activity.
And after 6,children’s auditory discrimination,cognitive competence,intonation and pronunciation will degenerate gradually,therefore,only take“the key period”as an opportunity to give children English education can bring all their potency into full play.Thus, it is taken for granted that English teachers should take full adv,英语毕业论文
