写作是英语学习者必须掌握的一项重要的语言技能,不像单科的基本技能(听,说,英语论文题目,读),写作能综合地反映英语学习者的语言流利程度。
Chapter One Introduction 1.1 Research Background Much importance should be attached to the teaching of English writing.Looking back the history of English writing teaching,several teaching methods and approaches have appeared, including the grammar-translation method,the audio-lingual method,the proficiency-oriented method,the process-oriented approach,the product-oriented approach and the genre approach. The product-oriented approach which prevailed in pubic schools until the last decade tends to consider writing as a linear and solitary process,with writing start at the very beginning of a piece and going through to the end straightly;emphasize the final product rather than the process that lead up to it; and regard teacher’s role as a judge and corrector(Williams,2017).The product-oriented approach to writing is featured by one draft and one mark,silent class atmosphere with teachers’sole domination over the writings.Generally,the initial writing effort was regarded as the final draft of the composition.Those compositions were marked and graded by teachers and no opportunities for revision were provided to the students during writing.In this process English teachers usually suffered from the time-consuming and burdensome tasks of correcting many surface-level errors in the students’compositions.However,students kept on repeating the same mistakes without awareness,which stirs great writing dislike and anxiety among the students.Besides,according to the product-oriented approach,the English learning and teaching seem to be geared to preparing for examination compositions rather than to improving language proficiency for practical use. The teaching of English writing in China tends to be a thankless job.English teachers definitely spare no effort to English writing teaching while students are lack of learning interest and their writing proficiency relatively remain in a low level.To a certain extent,the current situation traced back to the application of the traditional product approach to writing.For Chinese vocational college students English writing has always been the weakest part in English learning and the following problems tend to exist in their English writing.First,when comes to a topic,students tend to think in Chinese pattern and then translate ideas into English,rather than express directly in English thinking mode.Second,students usually fail to express themselves in idiomatic and beautiful English sentences.Besides,during the process of English writing,so much attention was paid to avoid making grammatical and usage errors that students neglected the organization of the compositions in a holistic view. Lastly,it is hard for the students to enrich their content during the writing process due to their language proficiency and lack of topic-related ideas.According to the Basic Teaching Requirement for Vocational College English Course,the teaching aim of vocational college English is to develop students’comprehensive abilities of using English language.As for the English writing,it is specifically required that students should be able to master the basic writing skills and accomplish writing tasks of different types,including description,narration,argumentation and practical writings, like business email,announcement.For the English majors,the requirement of their writing profici,英语论文题目 |
