Chapter I Introduction
由于改革和开放,中国的英语教育规模日益扩大,并取得巨大的成就在教育以及教学,新课程的实施促进了我国的教育和教学,但我们的英语教育情况是不令人满意的,尤其是在一些偏远县市。在本章中,笔者将首先介绍高中英语课堂中的小组讨论与英语学习的背景。其次,这项探讨的目的和意义进行讨论。三,理论基础介绍。它结束了与结构的论文。Since the reform and opening up, China's EnglishEducation scale has increasingly expanded and made great achievement in educationand teaching; the implementation of the new curriculum promoted our country’seducation and teaching, but the situation of our English education is not satisfactory,especially in some remote counties. In this chapter, the author will first of allintroduce the background of Small Group Discussion and English learning in EnglishClassrooms of Senior High Schools. Second, the purpose and significance of the studywill be discussed. Third, theoretical foundation is briefed. It ends up with the structureof the thesis.
1.1 Background of the study
新英语课程的总体目标是培养学生的综合语言使用能力。这就要求教师改变传统的“填鸭式”的教学措施,英语毕业论文,合作学习,尤其是小组讨论,并强调边做边学习。很多国内外的主场秀,小团体的合作学习是一种有效的教学措施的探讨和实验所广泛采用,在世界上许多国家,从而提高学生的学习兴趣,培养学生的学习自主性和合作精神。然而,在一些偏远的县,英语论文,英语教学的情况是不能令人满意的。笔者所在的学校已经工作了三年,是一个很好的例子。大多数学生在这所学校学习英语有困难。他们很少使用英语,在班上只是坐在那里,听,做笔记,或做什么样的教师,要求他们。他们不感兴趣,在学习英语。The overall goal of New English Curriculum is to cultivate the students’ abilityof integrated language using. This requires teachers to change the traditional“spoon-feeding” teaching method into cooperative learning, especially small groupdiscussion and emphasize learning through doing. Lots of research and experimentboth abroad and at home show that cooperative learning in small group is a kind ofeffective teaching method adopted widely by many countries in the world, whichimproved the students’ learning interest and cultivated students’ learning autonomyand cooperative spirit.However, in some remote counties, the situation of English teaching is notsatisfactory. A school where the author has worked for three years is a good example.The majority of students in this school have difficulty in learning English. Theyseldom use English in their class, just sit there, listening, taking notes or doing whatthe teachers ask them to. They are not interested in learning English at all.
The reason for this is that most English teachers hold a traditional pedagogicalbelief. In recent years, the Ministry of Education has put forward a series of Reformof Curriculum and pedagogy, which sticks to Quality-oriented Education. However,only textbooks are changed a lot, most teachers still hold the traditional belief, that isthe way of teaching they taught at school and are using currently; they are reluctant toassimilate the new teaching theory and renovate their teaching methods. Only a fewteachers have implemented this new teaching method.The New English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School issued byMinistry of Education of P.R of China in 2017 states that ‘to cultivate students’learning autonomy is an essential part of quality-oriented education. Students arebrought up to have the ability of communication and cooperation as well as analyzingand solving the problems. And it also emphasizes on learning through doing, whichrequires teachers to use the scientific teaching model, not the traditional spool-feedingmethod.Therefore, the author, as a full time teacher, attempts to further investigate thecurrent implementation of the new teaching method--- cooperative learning,especially ‘Small group discussion’ in English classroom teaching of a remote countymiddle school.
