It is widely believed that differences betweennative language and foreign language create learning difficulties, while the similaritiesfacilitate learning. With the development of modem society and the globalization of economy, Chinahas been further carrying out its open policy as a member of WTO. English, as a globallanguage, not only becomes one of the essential necessities for employees in all walks offields, but also relates closely to the social, economic and cultural development. Therefore, Chinese people have long realized that English is the preferred language fortheir promotion in the future and their children's further study, especially in order toexpand greatly international trade and tourism industry in ethnic minority areas. She takes special observation to what real learning problems Tujiastudents encounter and what linguistic errors they make and which kind of difficulties they confront frequently during their English learning.

Even the description of Tujia language in English is rareup till now and influence of Tujia language in English learning is merely mentionedinstead of carefully analyzed. My experimental work is executed to explore and analyzedifferences and similarities between Tujia and English in the aspects of phonology, lexicon, syntax and discourse so as to clarify interference in Tujia students' Englishlearning. To a certain extent, this study extends the scope of LI transfer and enrichesresearch findings of LI transfer.
