1.1 Research Questions
The present research intends to explore the function of teacher talk (TT) in collegeEnglish classes for non-English majors from the perspective of microscopic Educationalecology. In details, this study attempts to answer three questions. First, what is the presentsituation of TT in college English classroom? Second, what are the functions of TT in theecological classroom of college English? Third, what measures should be taken to realize thefunctions of TT better so as to build the ecological classroom of college English?

1.2 Purpose of the Research
The purpose of the research is mainly to find the answers to the above three researchquestions. More exactly, from the micro perspective of educational ecology, taking somerelated ecology principles such as the law of limiting factor, the flowerpot effect and theprinciple of ecological niche, and constructivism and humanism as the theoretical basis,taking some English teachers and students of Grade One and Two from the non-Englishmajors of Daqing Normal university as the subjects, the thesis first explores the presentsituation of TT in college English classrooms and the ecological functions of TT in ecologicalclassrooms of college English by analyzing the data obtained through the instruments of classrecordings, questionnaires and interview from the dimensions of the amount of TT, teachers’questions, feedback and interactional modifications, and then, the thesis puts forward somemeasures for the improvement of the functions of TT so as to create a harmonious classroomenvironment by focusing on man’s all-round development and build the ecological Englishclassroom with sustainable development. At present, the theories of educational ecology are drawing the attention of more andmore educators and teachers and the construction of ecological classroom of college Englishhas become many teachers’ pursuit target. Micro educational ecology holds that collegeEnglish classroom is complex ecological field combined with the teacher, the students and theclass environment. The three ecological factors connect with each other and restrict each other.Only when the three factors coexist harmoniously and friendly, the balance of classroomecology will not be broken, and class ecosystem can become symbiotic, open and sustainable. In college English ecological classroom, teacher talk, as the main media for the teacherto realize his teaching function and objective, has its unique characteristics and plays animportant role. In recent years, many scholars from both the domestic and foreign countrieshave carried out fruitful researches on TT and its functions from different aspects, but theresearches on the function of TT in college English classroom from the perspective ofmicroscopic educational ecology have rarely been found. In addition, there are still manyproblems in the current situation of TT in college English classroom which need to be furtherresearched and settled.
