略论英语招聘广告语言特点

[摘 要]英语招聘广告作为英语广告的一种,具有英语广告的一些共性,但是由于其交际目的的特殊性,/英语论文招聘广告成为一种特殊运用文体。本文拟对英语招聘广告的语言特征作出研讨,并辅以丰富的实例作出略论

广告,是为了某种特定的需要,通过一定形式的媒介物公开而广泛地向社会传递信息的一种宣传手段。英语招聘广告与不同于其他商业广告之处在于它是一种特定的以招募各种劳动力为目的的文体,因此形成了具有相对独立的富有特征的运用性语言。

(一)标题言简意赅、精确具体

英语招聘广告往往以招聘单位名称和招聘职位作标题,使求职者一目了然。如: IBM Corporation

(1) R&D Software Engineer

(2) Business PracticeAdvisor

(3) CustomerService Engineer

(二)使用省略句

1.省略动词。英语招聘广告经常省略系动词、情态动词和助动词。如:Able to work extra hours and/or weekends to supportlocal office upgrades andmaintenanceExcellent written and verbal communication skills inEnglish andMandarinBuild relationships with 3rd parties and interacteffectivelywith individuals at all levels of the companyIBM NotAlwaysHaveVacancies以上各例分别省略了系动词“be”,实义动词“have”,情态动词“can”和助动词“does”,但这些动词的省略丝毫不作用求职者对句子意思的理解。

2.省略主语。如∶Bachelor 's degree required, Master 's degreepreferredSolid understanding of hardware components, networkoperating systems and communications protocolsProactive andmotivatedFluent in both oral and written English

3.省略冠词the, a(an)。如∶Undergraduate degree in Information Technology,business or other related areas or comparable experienceSecretarywantedSound sense of judgmentAbility to react quickly and efficiently to crises

4.省略从句。英语招聘广告中省略的从句往往是定语从句,用现在分词(短语)或过去分词(短语)作后置定语。如:Projectmanagersworking for at least five years in relatedareas本句中“Projectmanagers”后省略了“who have been”。This position based in Shanghai requires travel withinChina本句中“This position”后省略了“which is”。Job experience required本句中“Job experience”后省略了“which is”。动词、主语、冠词及从句的省略一般出现在对工作职责和应聘资格的描述中,其目的在于利用有限的空间、时间和费用来传播足够的信息,以期达到最佳的广告效果。

(三)使用短语或短句

英语招聘广告在描述工作职责和应聘资格时广泛使用名词短语、动名词短语、不定式短语、形容词短语和介词短语,尤其是名词短语和介词短语以缩短广告的篇幅。短语或短句的使用既方便记忆,又能节约版面,同时突出了关键词,易引起求职者的注意,因此其频繁使用成为英语招聘广告的一个突出特点

1.名词短语。如∶Good English language comprehension in both oraland writingProven cultural sensitivity and adaptabilityExcellent communications, presentation and interpersonal skillsStrong business acumenActive involvement in the inventory accounting processimprovementsGood analytic skills, problem solving and conflictmanagement skills

2.动名词短语。如:Being friendly, approachable and professional

3.不定式短语。如:To speak and write English fluently

(四)使用祈使句

(五)使用缩略词

英语招聘广告普遍使用缩略词以节省篇幅、时间和费用,通常有以下几类缩略词:
