三、考查作定语
“in/名词”短语作定语常常放在被修饰词的后面。

【解析】答案为D。句意：很多中国大学向需要经济援助的学生提供奖学金。in need of 需要……，在句中作定语，修饰students。in favor of支持，赞成；in honor of 为纪念……；为庆祝……；in face of 面对……。

四、 考查作补足语
“in/名词”短语有时可作补语，对宾语或主语补充说明。
