The Futurists start mostly from Italy in the early 20th century, which reject the obsolescence that represents the tendency to restoring ancient ways. The supports of the futurist advocate speed, energy, violence and war. They seek the reformation of the society, especially in the field of poetry, painting, music, sculpture – all forms of art heavily rooted in the classical past, by force with some violence even war. They despise the old life style and want to destroy all the aspects built on the ancient ways. Meanwhile, they glorify war and see it as the destructive gesture of freedom-bringers and beautiful ideas worth dying for. What’s more, they think it extremely, which is that any exclusively virile individual is just a brute animal and any exclusively feminine individual is only a female. They insist on that a woman should play more roles in the life more than the mother of a son, the lover of a man. They should be trained to be very fierce and lose sentimental characters. On top of this, the futurists also pursue lust which is conceived beyond moral preconceptions and as an essential element of the dynamism of life.
In my view, the futurists pay more attention to violence and war, which causes the appearance of extremism in the process of fantastic reformation. They see the classicalism with lopsided sights which means they ignore the advantages brought by the tendency to restoring ancient ways. What’s worse, they highlight violence and war. As is known to all, the world peace is built on the non-violence and the respect to different values and cultures. Anyone who destroy the peaceful state, will be the executioner that is against the world. We are opposed to the war and appreciate the peaceful solution when facing the conflicts. At the same time, we appreciate that men and women keep the nature of themselves, which is that men own masculinity and women own femininity. However, we encourage women to play more active roles in the society with their efforts rather than violence.
Apart from the extreme behavior or thoughts from the futurists, I think, some positive aspects should be admitted. We adopt the classicalism to rebuild our society and make the art more colorful, but we need some reformation to change some obsolescence. Give ourselves utterly to the unknown, not in desperation but only to replenish the deep wells of the absurd! The motivation of social development needs some force without violence not only in the regime but also in the creation of art. I think the courage to break up authority is necessary, which is the inner spirit of the futurists.
In brief, I reject the reformation with violence and war. I cannot agree with the idea that women should be more ferocious without femininity. What we should pay more attention is the courage in the reformation of the obsolescence.
