摘要
世界各国文化导向的不同使之产生了各自独特的价值观。而西方文化作为世界文化重要的分支，在许多电影中得以良好的体现。好莱坞著名电影《当幸福来敲门》获得了许多观众的喜爱，它也是世界各国人们了解美国文化的一个窗口。文化背景的不同使得这部电影极具探讨意义，中美文化异同在电影中得以彰显，无论是价值观、思维方式，还是世界观，电影内容都为我们提供了合理的解释，我们通过对电影情节的赏析，英语毕业论文，从最基本的基督教文化和个人主义价值观入手，研讨中美文化相同点和不同点，英语毕业论文，促进两国间的跨文化交际活动的开展。

Abstract
Disparities of cultural orientation among countries worldwide give rise to uniqueness of values from one another. The occidental culture, in particular, is given full play in numerous amazing movies as an essential branch of world culture. The Pursuit of Happiness has obtained considerable popularity among the world and is regarded as a window for people to understand American culture. Additionally, what makes this movie extraordinary for further study are the differences between American and Chinese culture in terms of values, thinking patterns and world views as well, which can be explained reasonably in the movie. Based on the appreciation of the movie itself, this paper will first discuss fundamental Christian culture and individualism and then analyzes differences and similarities as well between American and Chinese cultures, facilitating a better stage for us to carry on China and America’s cross-cultural communications and activities throughout the world.

1 Introduction
As reflections of our behavioral tendency and opinions about everything, values can be considered as the standards to evaluate what people do and what things are and then select the most satisfactory objective out of all the other options. It is safe enough to say that values are the core values in world value and so as to motivate people internally. Given the little similarity that China and occidental countries share in cultural background, there exists a huge disparity between them in aspect of values. As the major branch of occidental culture, the American culture which can be symbolized and mirrored through the Hollywood movies has become the typical case. This paper will explain the values in American society and further analyze and compare the values in America and those in China by taking the example of the movie The Pursuit of Happiness.
