A major issue accompaniesthe rapid development of English teaching in China is that tens of thousands of qualifiedEnglish teacher are of great need in most of the primary schools.  According to the NewStandard, the duties of English teachers are to inspire and foster the children's interest inEnglish learning, to cultivate their positive attitudes,to help them build up confidence onEnglish learning,to train their good pronunciation and intonation, to help students master basiclanguage knowledge and acquire basic communication skills in real communication context,and to lay a solid foundation for their further study. The main concern of the New Standard isto make sure effective English teaching in primary schools. To meet these challenges, Englishteachers in primary schools should not only master sound knowledge and basic skills requiredfor effective English teaching but also show great enthusiasms to the challenging tasks.Admittedly, there are many factors relating to effective English teaching, among whichteacher's sense of efficacy is thought to be one of the most important influential factors.Tschannen-Moran (2017) stated briefly that teacher efficacy is powerfully related to manymeaningflil educational outcomes such as teachers' persistence, enthusiasm, commitment andinstructional behavior,as well as student outcomes such as achievement, motivation, andself-efficacy beliefs. However,persistent measurement problems have plagued those who havesought to study teacher efficacy.


  
  1.2 Purpose and Significance目的和意义
  Teacher's sense of efficacy has opened a new horizon for foreign language teachingresearch. Teacher's sense of efficacy is considered to be a substitution variable for teacher'sability, an important index of teacher's personal characteristics. Based on the comprehensiveanalysis of Chinese culture background and English teaching situation in primary schools,themain purposes of this thesis are to propose a new instrument for measuring English teacher'ssense of efficacy within the context of primary school,英语毕业论文,to get a general idea about the primaryschool English teacher's sense of efficacy in China and to probe into some factors that mayaffect English teacher's sense of efficacy as well. The new instrument will provide us a newway to assess English teacher's sense of efficacy within the context of primary school.
