1.Introduction
With China's rapid economic development and increasing international exchanges, teachers and college students are increasingly focusing on comprehensive ability in English, but the results of English oral teaching in universities is difficult to satisfy us all, particularly non-English majors in college,when to mention Dumb English among university graduates,it is not worth surprise, even good students cannot read fluent English,let alone perform normal oral communication. The reason why college English teaching has so many obvious shortcomings is that the schools and teachers have not taken the effective policy into action. The motivation of learning spoken English directly restricts level.Therefore,how to improve students' speaking skills have become the priority to solve the employment problem, and enhance overall national .
The goal of College English teaching is to develop students' language comprehensive ability, especially listening and speaking, but college oral English teaching has been in a weak link for a long time.Department of Education and universities recognize this problem, has also taken a series of measures, but the effect is less pronounced. There is widespread of deaf college graduates in English, they can not express what they have learned, even cannot make the necessary communication and exchange. In this paper, take my school for example, analyzing the problems of the School of Public English Teaching, and puts forward the effective teaching practice and improvement program. This article ,from the perspective of psychology, teaching and research emotional factors ,plays the important role of verbal output, requiring teacher pay attention to students' learning motivation and psychological factors, scientific and efficient organization of classroom activities.Meanwhile, students should combines the international community and the actual needs with their own career planning, take efforts to improve the comprehensive ability in English, in order to improve their employment advantage in the fierce competitive environment.
3.The Problems of College Public English Teaching
3.1 Problems textbook itself
In China,we learn English as the foreign language and school is the main environment.In the majority of our colleges and universities, Non-English Majors generally do not open spoken and professional training courses. English will continue to be used as the important international language for many years. Although there are many disadvantages, the language, after all, is a very useful communication tool.With the social development and continuous change, from the modern point of view, some of the materials anachronistic.The textbook is not seriously related to our daily life, and the lack of a sense of the times, it requires us to have solid knowledge of the language, especially consolidation grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing, but they ignore special training of speaking ability.
