商务口译交际过程中的非语言现象略论[英语论文]

摘要

随着经济的快速发展,口译作为连接不同文化背景的人的桥梁发挥着越来越重要的影响。为了准确翻译出人们所表达的内容,口译员就必须关注口译过程中语言交流和非语言现象。探讨表明,93%的信息都是通过非语言进行传递的,英语毕业论文,但人们在交谈时可能并没有意识到他们自己正在进行的非语言交流。因此,英语论文,本文从商务口译的定义以及特征着手,进而略论商务口译过程中的可能会出现的非语言现象。此外,本文还还原了具体商务口译情境,略论在这些语境中的非语言现象,探讨出这些非语言现象对口译活动的作用,从而提高口译的质量。

Abstract

With the rapid development of economy, interpretation is playing a more and more vital role in business to connect people from different backgrounds. To interpret what people want to express exactly, it is necessary to attach importance to both verbal phenomena and nonverbal phenomena. Research has shown that 93% messages are sent by nonverbal languages, but many people may not be aware of the nonverbal communication when they speak to each other. Therefore, starting from analyzing the definition and characteristics of business interpretation, this paper analyzes nonverbal phenomena which may happen in business interpretation. What’s more, this paper gives some specific cases and studies nonverbal phenomena in these cases. Finally, it finds out how these nonverbal phenomena influence business interpretation, which will be of great help to improve the quality of interpretation.

1  Introduction
Thanks to economic globalization, international trade has developed at an unprecedented speed, and international business has become more and more frequent than ever before. As a bridge to connect people from different cultures and those who are speaking different languages, interpretation is playing a vital role in business negotiation. Actually, the process of interpreting involves not only verbal communication but also non-verbal communication. However, when talking about interpreting, most people will associate it with only the former one, i. e. verbal communication, while ignoring its very important aspect of nonverbal communication. They are likely to consider which expression is appropriate in different situations and which form of addresses should be used, while paying little attention to nonverbal aspects, like facial expressions, eye contact, voice qualities. In fact, both verbal and nonverbal phenomena are important in ensuring the quality of interpretation. Researches in communication suggest that many feelings and intentions are sent and received nonverbally than verbally. It suggests that only 7% of messages are sent through words, with remaining 93% sent by nonverbal expressions (Miller, 1981:4-6). Considering this situation, this paper focuses on analyzing nonverbal phenomena in business interpretation. In the first part, this paper briefly introduces the topic. Then, it gives an introduction of interpretation from such aspects as its definition, characteristics and classification. In the third part, it analyzes business interpretation from different points. In the final part, it studies nonverbal phenomena in business interpretation, including analysis of some specific cases.
