摘要：
本论文从教育与医疗，这两个具有代表性的角度，英语论文题目，试对政府工作报告英译本进行案例略论。当作者针对此探讨项目做初步探索时，发现政府工作报告英译本存在大量的中式英语表达，尤以词法与句法的冗余现象最为严重。在功能对等和对比语言学的相关理论的指引之下，辅以少许的语料库知识，作者将政府工作报告的英译本与美国总统的国情咨文做对比探讨。针对翻译文本中的冗余问题，作者在文中从词法与句法两个层面做出了略论并提出了两种翻译策略来解决这一问题。这便是在词法上替代重复指称，在句法上多使用主从结构以替代汉语中的并列式。本文对提高中国政府外宣文件的翻译质量有一定参考价值。

Abstract:
In this thesis, the author has chosen two representative topics the education and health care and compiled them into a case to analyze. When the author made a preliminary investigation, it can be found that Chinglish expressions, especially redundancies are overused in the C-E translation of the RWG. Under the direction of functionalist approaches and the contrastive linguistics, the author made a comparative study with the State of the Union Address (SUA) aided by a little corpus-based knowledge. Directing at several kinds of redundancies, the author has analyzed them at lexical and sentential levels and proposed two strategies to solve the problems. That are the displacement of repeated references lexically and the usage of hypotactic structure sententially. This paper is of some significance to the translations of political publicities.

1.1 Background Information
In China, every early March will witness the commencement of sessions of National People’s Congress (NPC) and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). During the “two sessions”, Report on the Work of the Government (RWG) delivered by Chinese Premier, covering a review of the work on various aspects of the central government during the past year as well as a blueprint of the government work for the next year, serves as a perfect showcase of the fast developing and eye-catching China to the rest of the world. For the foreign media, think tanks and China research centers, a great access to the rising China is really worth of intense attention. So, undoubtedly, the translation of the report, which is of significant political and diplomatic sense, is a hotspot of translation study.
