摘要
陈凯歌导演的电影《霸王别姬》是一部享有世界级声誉的影片。全片讲述了两个戏子的悲喜人生,兼具史诗格局和深刻的文化内涵。电影的成功也引发了众人对此电影字幕的探讨。其中的一个探讨重点便是本电影字幕中文化负载词的英译。
本文从奈达功能对等的翻译理论角度出发,对电影中五类文化负载词的英译效果进行略论,英语论文题目,英语毕业论文,以此来总结含京剧元素文化负载词的翻译策略。论文首先回顾了字幕翻译的特点和探讨近况以及文化负载词的分类探讨。然后介绍了奈达的功能对等理论。接着以《霸王别姬》中的文化负载词为例,借助功能对等理论略论其英译效果。最后总结出《霸王别姬》字幕中文化负载词英译所采用的四种翻译策略,即直译、意译、缩译、增译。

Abstract
The film Farewell, My Concubine directed by Chen Kaige has won numerous awards and appreciation. It spans 53 years showing two actors’ friendship filled with fiery conflicts and tender reconciliations. The success of the film has also attracted people to the study of its subtitle translation. One of the focal points of people’s research is on the translation of culture-loaded words in this subtitle.
The thesis employs Nida’s Functional Equivalence theory as its theoretical foundation. Attempts will be made to analyze the translation of culture-loaded words in the subtitle with Peking Opera features so as to summarize some applicable translation strategies. It firstly makes a brief review of studies on subtitle translation and culture-loaded words; then it introduces the Functional Equivalence theory. After that, it adopts Farewell, My Concubine as a case study to explore the translation strategies of culture-loaded words with Peking Opera features. Finally it summarizes four translation strategies—literal translation, free translation, condensed translation and addition, which are applied to the translation of the culture-loaded words in the subtitle of Farewell, My Concubine.
