Abstract:
Subtitling translation is a rising industry in translation fields in China, which has started after the reform and opening up. The policy enhanced economy and society development and accelerated the fusion of global culture, as a lot of foreign films and television productions were imported by China, and among those productions America series catch more people's attention and become popular among most Chinese viewers. Vampire Diaries is one of the most popular American series, and lots of audiences are captivated by its amazing plots and mystery atmosphere.
However, parts of the audience can hardly understand the original language and can never enjoy the dialogue among characters in television without authentic translation. In order to meet the viewers’ demands, many translators take a part in the work of subtitle translation voluntarily. In this paper, I will take Vampire Diaries as an example to analyze the characteristics and skills of American series subtitle translation and introduce some solutions to difficulties in subtitling translation.

字幕翻译是中国翻译领域的新兴行业，开始于改革开放之后。改革开放不仅促进了经济与社会的发展而且也加速了世界文化的融合。在当今社会，中国引进了大量的海外影视著作，其中美剧引起越来越多的人们关注并且受到大多数中国观众的喜爱。《吸血鬼日记》是最受欢迎的美剧之一，许多观众被它精彩的情节和神秘的氛围所吸引，为之着迷。
然而部分观众几乎不能理解原语的意思，英语论文，并且没有了字幕翻译他们将完全无法了解影视剧中人物的对话。为了满足他们的需要，许多译者主动加入了字幕翻译的工作。在此，我将以吸血鬼日记为案例略论美剧字幕翻译的特点与技巧，介绍处理一些翻译难题的措施以促进国内字幕翻译事业的发展。
