摘要
在日常生活中，我们经常会见到英文写的各种科技文章。因此本文系统地论述了科技英语翻译特点以及科技英语长句的翻译，分译法在科技英语长句中的应用，旨在帮助人们掌握科技英语长句翻译的基本规律和措施，以及非常实用的翻译技巧，提高他们科技英语的翻译能力，便于他们了解周围的科技成果。
本文共分四章。
第一章简单介绍了科技英语的重要性以及本文探讨的主要内容和目的，旨在帮助读者对科技英语以及对本文的思路有个大概的了解。
第二章简述了几个基本的概念，英语论文题目，如科技英语，英语长句，分译法。其次，作者从三个方面(词汇、句法和修辞)论述了科技英语的特点。并回顾了科技英语翻译的标准及准则，即忠实和通顺。同时也简述了当前对英语长句翻译的探讨近况以及它们的一些不足，如关于翻译措施的分类有不同种分类措施，以至于让翻译工作者感到困惑。
第三章叙述了作者的探讨。首先对科技英语长句的句法类型进行了汇总，总结了三种长句类型，即简单句，英语毕业论文，并列句和复合句。并且在这三种长句中，作者归纳了何时应用分译法以及如何应用分译法。通过对收集到的文献中所举的例子的略论探讨，如果将长句分成若干个翻译单位，再将这些翻译单位分别用不同的翻译技巧翻译成汉语，可以发现分译法大多数应用于以下三种情况：并列句，复合句中的定语从句以及较长的短语。
第四章总结了本文的探讨内容，提出了本文的一些缺陷，如在探讨分译过程中，并未把文章背景略论，句子结构略论考虑进去等，以及对将来探讨的一些建议和意见。

ABSTRACT
In our daily life，we often read various kinds of articles written in English. In this paper I have demonstrated the characteristics of English for Science and Technology ( here after called EST ）and the translation of long sentences in EST. I have also stated application of division in long sentences in order that it can help others grasp the basic rules and choose the right techniques in EST translation. So they can make great progress in translating English for Science and Technology.
This thesis includes four parts:
Chapter one severs as an introduction, which has stated the importance of EST and the objectives of this paper in order to help readers to obtain a general understanding of EST and this paper.
Chapter two is mainly about the definition of the terms such as EST, long sentences and division of long sentences. The author has also stated its three characteristics in terms of vocabulary, syntax, and rhetoric. There are some principles of translation in EST which are faithfulness and smoothness. Besides, the thesis has been concerned with the previous studies on translation of long sentences and their limitation. For example, there are different ways to classify the translation techniques which make the translators feel confused.
Chapter three is mainly about the present study. First I have collected three typical long sentences in EST translation: the simple sentence, the coordinate sentence and the complex sentence. Then in the three kinds of long sentences, this paper shows when and how the division is used. If the sentences are cut into several units and the units are translated into Chinese respectively with different translation techniques, by analyzing the examples in the books and articles I have collected, it is found that in three situations where division is frequently used: the coordinate sentences, the attributive clauses and some long phrases.
Chapter four is the conclusion of this paper. It has summed up the present study and pointed out some limitations in the present study. For example, this thesis hasn’t combined the translation technique with other elements in the process of translation, such as the importance of the context and sentence structure analysis. It has also proposed some suggestions for further study.
