Abstract
With the development of globalization, people from different cultural backgrounds have more and more opportunities to communicate with each other and in communication, conversation usually begins with exchange of names. As one of the essential parts of human language, used by human beings, names bear great social significance.
Based on previous researches and guided by Hofstede’s culture value dimensions, this thesis conducts a comparative study of Chinese and English names on cultural connotations and their translations. The comparisons are made in the forms of Chinese and English personal names and the influence of deep-going cultural connotations on Chinese and English names. The different cultural connotation, like group orientation, hierarchy, ideas of men are superior to women are all reflected in Chinese names, while the individualism orientation, emphasis of personality and equality are reflected in English names. Besides, based on the previous study and comparison, mutual translations of Chinese and English names are discussed afterward.
The comparative study of Chinese and English names on cultural connotations and their translations helps people improve cultural awareness and understand each other better in intercultural communication, thus the intercultural communication can be more effective.

摘 要
随着全球化的快速发展，来自不同文化背景的人们有了越来越多的交际机会，而交际往往是以互通姓名为开端。作为人类语言的重要组成部分之一，英语论文网站，姓名在人类社会中有着举足轻重的影响和地位。
在前人探讨的基础上，本文基于霍夫斯特德的文化价值尺度，从文化内涵角度比较了中英姓名的文化异同及其翻译方式。本文主要对比了中英姓名的结构及其文化因素对姓名的作用异同等。中英文化内涵的异同，如中国的群体取向、等级制度和重男轻女等都可以从中国人的姓名中反映出来。而英语国家的个人取向、强调个人和平等也在英语姓名中有所反映。此外，作者进一步讨论了中英人名的互译。
对中英文姓名的文化内涵及其翻译的对比探讨有助于提高人们的文化意识，英语论文题目，有助于人们在跨文化交际中彼此加深了解，使跨文化交际有效的进行。
