Abstract: Language and thinking are necessary for both cultural communication and ideological communication. Language is the fundamental element and basis of translation. Essentially, translation is a kind of thinking activity. The processes of translations are different between Chinese and English due to different thinking patterns. The difference is mainly embodied by the contrasting between concrete thinking pattern and abstract thinking pattern. A deep study on translation should involve law of thinking pattern of the translator and thinking pattern and cognitive psychological activity of the originator and reader. The consideration of thinking modes is necessary because during the translation process it is closely related with many translation principles and theories. On the other hand, those principles and theories offer a solid basis for the alteration of thinking pattern. The combination between them can be conducive to the translator and help them to offer the readers with a more reliable and satisfying translated text. All in all, this paper offers an inner perspective of thinking systematically for those who are interested in translation and help them to grasp concept and concreteness of the original essay exactly and properly and give the readers a better translation. |
