Abstract
Without any doubt, parents are the first teachers for their children in a life time. Parents teach their children to walk when they can toddle; teach them to use knives and chopsticks when they can eat food by themselves; teach them to button their coat when they can finger. Children are the hopes of a nation. They must be educated to serve their country when they grow up. So family education is the most important and fundamental education for children.
There are lots of kinds of family education in the world. Each of them is closely relative to its culture and shows unique features. The most famous one among them is American family education. However, Chinese family education is known to the world for its severity. Through this paper, by analyzing the American sitcom—Growing Pains, the author tries to find out the differences in the aims of education, concepts of education, contents of education and methods of education between America and China.
Based on the study of different features and comparison of the current situation of two counties’ family education, the author hopes to get some enlightenments for our education. Chapter one introduces the definition of family education and TV series; chapter two focuses on the analysis of the differences of family education between America and China; chapter three points out the merits and demerits of two countries’ family education; chapter four provides some useful suggestions for Chinese family education.

摘 要
毋庸置疑，在人的一生中，父母是孩子们的第一任老师。当孩子牙牙学语时，父母们教会他们说话；当孩子们能自己动手吃饭时，父母们教会他们使用筷子刀叉；当孩子们有能力动手时，父母们教会他们怎么穿脱衣服。孩子是国家未来兴盛繁荣的希望。必须教育他们长大后为国家服务。所以，家庭教育是孩子们从牙牙学语时就开始接受的最重要的教育。
因为文化异同的不同，有着各种各样的具特色的家庭教育措施。最有名的当属美国的家庭教育了。而中国的家庭教育则是以严厉而闻名世界的。通过本文，及对美国电视剧——成长的烦恼的略论，作者将找出中美家庭在教育理念、教育目的、教育措施、教育内容等方面的不同点。
根据两国不同的教育特点和两个国家当前庭教育的情况比较，英语论文，笔者希望能得到一些启示，找到一个满意的适合中国的家庭教育措施。第一章是主要介绍什么是家庭教育以及《成长的烦恼》背景介绍；第二章主要阐述中美家庭教育的不同点；第三章着重指出中美两国在家庭教育上的优缺点；第四章是通过略论为中国家庭教育提出一些有益的建议。
