Abstract and Key Words
Abstract:As the importance of primary English teaching is greatly highlighted by the whole society in recent years, primary school English, as a compulsory course, is making itself into primary schools. However, many problems with primary school English teaching remain to be carefully studied and properly solved. A common phenomenon is that pupils' interest in English is decreasing as time moves on and as a result, they become more and more passive in English class. Based on the findings of many studies, the present paper tries to prove that playing games in English teaching, as one of the effective ways, is particularly suitable for children's physiological and psychological development and can foster their interest and generate their thirst for knowledge. With games involved in the learning process, pupils are encouraged to do many things with fun in the target language and in this way, while enjoying the pleasure and happiness of playing games, they can always learn something about the target language and have a sense of achievement.

1. Introduction
It is a fact that education in our country has been influenced by the deep-rooted examination -oriented system for a long time. A teacher-centered class is typical of a traditional passive class. In an English class, teachers usually explain every language point in detail, while students take notes all the time. It is just like teachers pouring water into a container. In addition, students are forced to memorize vocabulary and grammar rules. As a result, their interest in learning English is decreasing. Apparently, it is not at all effective to teach children English this way.
Interest is a good teacher for pupils in the process of learning a foreign language. Then, what are children most interested in? The answer is very simple: games. The practice of games is explicitly listed in the language skills for primary school pupils in the National English Curriculum. When using games in the classroom, it is beneficial for teachers to have a complete understanding of the definitions of games: a form of play with rules, competition, and an element of fun. Teachers should also consider the advantages of games: they can capture students' attention, lower students' stress, and give students the chance for real communication. At least games will maintain their interest and can attract their attention. In fact, a good teaching method can easily arouse students' interest in learning.
