摘 要
《珍妮姑娘》是美国作家西奥多•德莱赛以其姐姐为原型创作的小说。小说讲述了一个生活穷困但内心单纯善良的姑娘——珍妮，与其在打工时先后遇到的两个男人之间的爱情故事。主人公珍妮为了家人和自己的利益，抛弃了基本的道德观念，追求享乐。但由于身份地位卑微，只能做情妇，英语论文网站，一生不被上流社会所接受，最后孤独终老。本论文主要从珍妮的道德观出发，结合当时女性主义观念的盛行，略论珍妮的性格特征所导致的悲剧命运的结局。发现其悲剧的原因不仅仅在于她自身的性格弱点，英语论文范文，还有当时社会风气的败坏的作用——环境的变化促使珍妮的基本道德观发生了巨大的变化。其小说反映出的物质主义在当今社会仍然盛行，并旨在启迪新时代的女性同胞，要有敢于突破的创新精神，同时也要具备正确的物质观念。

ABSTRACT
Jennie Gerhardt was created by American novelist Theodore Dreiser who took his sister as the prototype. The novel tells the love stories between a poor girl who is innocent and kind in the heart, and two men she meets during her life. In order to have an enjoyable life, the heroine Jennie abandons the basic moral values for the benefits of her families and herself. Trapped by her humble birth, Jennie could only become a mistress. For her whole life, she is not accepted by the high society and finally ends up dying alone. This paper analyzes Jennie's personality from the perspective of her morality, combing with the popularity of the concept of feminism at that time in America, and concludes the relationships between her characteristics and her tragic fate. It is found that the reason for the tragedy lies not only in her own personality weaknesses, as well as in the impact of corruption mood of society at that time --- the ethical fading in the environment promoted Jennie's change in basic morality tremendously. The materialism reflected in this novel is still prevalent today. Jennie’s tragedy enlightens female compatriots to take the courage to break through the tradition, and meanwhile to hold the correct concept of consumption.
