摘要
本文主要从宗教观的角度，探讨托马斯•哈代宗教观念的形成过程以及这种观念对他的著作《德伯家的苔丝》中女主角的命运所带来的作用。通过探讨，既可以了解托马斯•哈代的宗教观念、这种观念的形成过程以及找出苔丝的命运悲剧与哈代宗教观念两者之间的联系，英语论文，又可以探究出主人公苔丝的最大悲剧根源，挖掘更多对于西方宗教演变及作用的知识，英语论文范文，促使人们形成正确的人生观、价值观、宗教观，走正确的人生道路。

Abstract
This thesis is a study on Thomas Hardy’s religious belief and its influence on Tess’s fate. After analyzing, we can learn Thomas Hardy’s religious belief, its process and the relationship between the two aspects. Besides that, we can find the most important source of Tess’s tragic life, and more knowledge about the history of western religion. All of these can lead us to have correct outlooks on life, values and religious belief. At the same time, live in the right way.

1. Introduction
1.1 A Brief Introduction to Thomas Hardy
Thomas Hardy was an excellent realistic novelist and poet in the Victorian Age.
He was born on 2 June, 1840, Higher Bockhampton, Dorset. It was a rural and picturesque place. His family was well-known far and near in the past, but now all their achievements have gone. At the same time, it was a family with strong Christian tendency. Under the influence of his family, he knew a few religionary representives when he was a child.
As he grew up, he started to learn architecture. In 1862, he worked in London for Arthur Blomfield who designed and restored churches. Since then, he abandoned the abmition to attend university and began to do research on literature, philosophy and theology.
He wrote a lot of poems and novles such as Far from the Madding Crowd，The Return of the Native，Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Jude the Obscure and so on. However, Tess of the D'Urbervilles is the most excellent and controversial novel of them. Even though Thomas Hardy has been dead for nearly eighty years, thousands of readers and scholars are willing to do resarch on this novel. |
