Abstract
Katherine Mansfield (1888—1923) is an eminent figure in the modernist development of the short story in Britain in the 20th century. “Honeymoon”, the short story written in the last few years of her life, represents the maturation of her artistic techniques. It has been examined from many perspectives such as psychology, modernism, and so on. However, few investigations have been made into it through a stylistic point of view. Therefore, this paper undertakes to give an integrative and systematic stylistic analysis of this short story, with a view to exploring how the intended effects are achieved through the writer’s choice of language.
This thesis consists of five parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to the importance and the motivation of this research, points out the thesis statement of this research and the theoretic tool for my analysis, and presents the structure of my paper. The second part is a review of the criticism to Katherine Mansfield and her works, which points out the values of studying her work. The third part gives a brief introduction to the analysis tool of the thesis, namely the stylistics. The fourth part gives a stylistic analysis of “Honeymoon” from the following six aspects: the lexical level, the grammatical level, the level of figures of speech, the graphological level, the level of conversation and the level of the presentation of thought. The last part is the conclusion. Based on the analysis of the stylistic features of “Honeymoon”, it can be concluded that through the choosing of her preferential words, grammatical structure, punctuation marks, figures of speech, conversation, and the ways of presenting thought, the writer succeeds in attaining the intended effects.

摘 要
凯瑟琳•曼斯菲尔德(1888-1923)是二十世纪英国现代短篇小说发展史上的一位核心人物。她晚年创作的短篇小说《蜜月》体现了她创作技巧的成熟。这篇小说曾被人从多个视角进行探讨,比如说心理学,现代主义视角等等。然而,很少有人从文体学的视角对其进行略论。因此,本论文着手于对这篇小说进行一个全面系统的文体略论,以探索作者是怎样通过对语言的选择来达到她意图达到的效果的。
这篇论文由五个部分组成。开篇简要介绍本篇论文的探讨动机及意义,点明论文的论点,指出论文的略论工具,并呈现论文结构。
第二部分介绍对凯瑟琳•曼斯菲尔德及其著作探讨的近况,并指出探讨其小说的价值。
第三部分简要介绍了本论文的探讨工具,即文体学。
第四部分分别从以下六个方面对《蜜月》进行了文体略论:词汇层面,语法层面,修辞层面,语相层面,英语论文网站,英语论文题目,对话层面和思想表达层面。
最后一部分是结论。基于对《蜜月》文体特征进行的略论可得出结论:作者通过选择她偏爱的词汇、语法结构、修辞、标点、对话以及思想表达方式来达到刻画人物、深化主题、揭示人物内心等她意图达到的效果。
