[Abstract] This paper discusses how to utilize listening materials effectively—based on the principles of teaching listening and the material development. Listening games and activities should be used as an interesting warming-up exercise in the listening lesson. Although they are described make few demands in terms of preparation or class time, they will play a valuable role in developing listening competence. Therefore, listening game and activities ought to be a regular part of students’ diet in the listening lesson. The listening materials for the main lecture offer a good, more easily controlled alternative to the live speaker. In order to find out the way to utilize the materials for the main lecture effectively, the teachers should operate the guidelines step by step to make the students’ task easier.
