1.1 Goals of this study探讨目标
本论文的目的是发现的因素占了中国英语学习者的英语文章的过度使用的情况。实词相比,传统上是作为功能性词语的忽略,并且是一个在英语中的最频繁的语素This thesis is aimed at discovering the factors accounting for the situation ofChinese Learners' overuse of English articles.Compared to content words, articles are traditionally ignored as functional words,and are one of the most frequent morphemes in English. Besides, articles are the mostdifficult part in grammar for L2 to be fully acquired. There are studies in secondlanguage acquisition suggesting that even English native speakers have difficulty inacquiring articles and they make mistakes even after all other parts of the language havebeen fully mastered. As a matter of fact, learners meet English articles at the earlieststage of language learning, even this, they still make mistakes, and strangely this part isnot their most accurate part to use.According to Master (2017a), three major facts about the English article systemaccounting for this difficulty: (1) the articles, including the a, an,the and zero/nullarticle (0), are one of the most frequently occurring functional words in the language(1997); (2) function words are usually unstressed and therefore if not impossible,英语论文题目, theyare quite difficult for a non-native speaker to distinguish, further influencing thereliability of input in the spoken language; and (3) the article system adds functions a single morpheme, and it is an only too burden for learners who normally search for theone-to-one function correspondence in controlling the puzzle of any human languageuntil the coming of the advanced stages of acquisition. the perspective of language processing, functional words, different content words, are generally neglected by learners when they process input information,especially when they focus more on meaning (Ekiert,2017). What's more, consideringChinese language itself which has no articles or article-like morphemes,and this addsdifficulty to Chinese learners. Besides, in most cases,communication can not behindered by the incorrect use of articles (Master, 1997). However, in academic writing,high level of accuracy is required, and the correct use of articles not only becomes asign of command of language but also of accuracy in expressions, emotion and thought(Miller,2017). Master (1997, 2017a) has ever brought up that the imperfect commandof the use of articles may reflect the imperfect knowledge and it may serve as anindication of interlanguage level. Therefore, it is teachers who have the responsibility tolead students to understand and command the article system in classroom ting.In summary, the aim of this study is to discover the present situation of differentChinese learners' overuse of English articles, and further predict and find out factorslikely to cause this overuse by learners article-less language, like Chineselanguage.
