Becoming one part of vocabulary or not for new words depends on many factories.It's one of the main reasons that defining new words becomes difficult. For any kind oflanguages, it's very important and necessary to carry on new words researches，because thenew word is a mirror which can not only reflect the development of the society，but also reflectthe development of the language itself. English famous scholar Jane Bradbury considers theemergence of new words at any time as one of the greatest charms of English language. SheI said in one of her articles about English vocabulary that the continuous production ofneologism is one of the most exciting things in the language of English in every aspects of oursociety appearing in newspapers, on the radio，in conversation，and so on. According to thestatistics of The Bamhart Dictionary Companion, a magazine specializing in English newwords，英语论文范文，each year , the number of new words or new meanings entering its computer databasereaches 1500 to 1600. In terms of English language, the starting time of neologism researchesis considered to be 1902. In 1902，American scholar Leon Mead has already began the study ofnew words，and his works now are often used for reference. From then on，the more new wordsappeared, the more scholars and experts increasingly concern about them.Domestic neologism research began in 1950s, but at that time，not many people concernedit. Until 1984，Lv Shuxiang，a great master of Chinese linguistics，embodied 170 new words inone of his books, which aroused people's attention to new words. Lv Shuxiang's appeal “weshould care about new words and new meanings" (1984a: 8-14) initiated a high tide ofneologism research in Chinese. After that，especially recent years, a great many of experts andscholars produced a large number of research articles, books，and new words dictionaries onneologism studied neologism from different points of view，which can embody in four aspects:(1) the definition of neologism (2) the standards of neologism (3) cyberspeak (4) culture andnew words. Some of these researches are concerned about culture and language，and someanalyze psychological and cultural factors through new words.
