The latest findings help people to further understand and make use of properbody languages in various situations. However, researches on the body language ofpre-service English teachers are barely found home and abroad. Considering the greatpotential relevance between teacher body language and teaching effects,theresearches on pre-service teachers' body language and even on the training ofpre-service teachers' body language is inevitable. And the advanced computersoftware and hardware will be used in more and more body language researches toachieve the precision and scientificity. 1.2 Research Purpose探讨目的 The purpose of the research is to explore pre-service English teachers' cognitionsand the level of using teacher body language. Through a careful analysis, conclusionswill hopefully be made on the relevance of teacher body language and teachingperformance level. 1.3 The Significance of the Research探讨意义 The research reported here attempted to explore the cognitions and the use ofteacher body language by pre-service English teachers. Although many studies havebeen made on the general concept of nonverbal communication and body language,researches on pre-service English teachers' body language are scarce,especially inChina. Considering the great importance of teacher body language in teacher-studentcommunication and interaction, more attention should be paid to the cultivation ofproper teacher body language during the teachers' per-service period.
