Abstract: since the day when the computer was produced, it has gotten the inseparable contact with English. Applying multimedia to English teaching is inexorable trend. Especially use in high school English class. This analysis of multimedia in English teaching is to provide some assistance to English teachers attempting to adopt multimedia in high school English class. Mainly analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of using multimedia in high school English teaching, and points out the multimedia application should be appropriate so that we can avoid the disadvantages. Moreover, state how to use multimedia in high school English class effectively and give some suggestions.

Introduction:
In the last few years, multimedia technology has progressed by leaps and bounds. With this rapid progress, it has now become feasible and affordable to integrate multimedia technology into the English teaching and learning progress. With the view of on going 21century and the development of modern education. The multimedia provides various types and forms of information, from sound, video, images and animation. This technology quadruples the possibility of language learning. The output provides a rich and fascinating learning environment much needed in low-motivating language classes to make learning more attractive and effective. The application of the multimedia has already exerted an enormous influence on the foreign language. This infusion of multimedia into high school English class has altered considerably the instructional strategy in our educational institutions and changed the way of teachers’ teaching and students’learining. Nowadays multimedia is being used increasingly in high school to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. Firstly, analyze the necessity of using multimedia in high school English class. Teachers can use multiple teaching form alternately such as make the lesson intensively and illuminate the education and let the students join in the interactivity and so forth within the limited time in class. It can inspire the learning interest make students always in the positive and initiative learning state, thus achieve the goal which cultivate the students’ comprehensive English quality and improve the teaching efficiency. Secondly, analyze the advantages of multimedia English teaching in high school. It creates real and effective language environment can eliminate the defect that students do not use English to thought directly and make the whole class activity.Thirdly, analyze the disadvantages of multimedia English teaching in high school. Some teachers blindly abuse of it that make the teaching become mechanical rigid. Besides, much use multimedia will lack communications between teachers and students. Finally, analyze how to use multimedia in high school English teaching effectively and teachers should pay attention when utilize it in English teaching.
