Chapter I Introduction
1.1 Background
The rapid development of information technology has been changing the traditionaleducation mode. As for foreign language teaching in the 21st century, certainly, it will face thechallenge of educational informationalization. College English Curriculum Requirements(2017) pointed out that: "we should make full use of multimedia and the opportunities broughtby network technology development, and adopt a new teaching mode to improve thetraditional teacher-centered classroom teaching mode. New teaching model should be basedon modem information technology, especially network technology, to push English teachingtoward personalized study and active learning rather than been restricted by time and place."Under the guidance of this document,colleges and universities raised college Englishteaching reform supported by modem information technology,especially network technology.After nearly lO-year's construction on network teaching environment, most of thecolleges and universities have basically achieved E-teaching with campus network as themain basis, supported by college English teaching platform and assisted by face-to-faceteaching. Furthermore, the campus network would have been combined with Internet websitesif language knowledge and language skills were in this process. In the "College EnglishNetwork Teaching Platform" (short as "platform"), there are three systems: teaching/learningsystem, teaching/learning resource and teaching/learning management system. Among them,the teaching/learning system is the main one, including five subsystems, namely multimediacourseware system,immediate tutoring system,英语论文网站,non-immediate discussion system,onlinehomework submission/management system and testing system. This has been generally usedby college English pilot colleges. Having integrated the available decentralized resources(such as the measurement system, automatic question-answering system, interactive systembetween teachers and students,learning management system, and basic web-based virtuallearning system, etc.), network classroom unifies resource allocation and optimization,providing teaching and autonomous learning with language center (the platform), extendingof classroom teaching, constructing a new English teaching mode which combines classroomteaching and practice teaching with autonomous learning.

1.2 Research significance
Through the investigation about the college English learning adaptation state of freshmen,we can find the problems existed in flieir English learning. And this can provide someimplications for teachers and administrators to help freshmen to adapt to the new environmentand teaching model as soon as possible. At the same time, "learner-centered" idea also tells usthat the aim of any kind of college English teaching reformation must serve the improvementof students* English learning. Thus, the results of this study can also give some implicationsfor how to adjust and optimize current college English reformation and the development inthe future.
