摘 要
本文首先对《白鲸》和《老人与海》两部小说的基本情况作简单介绍，指出这两部小说在情节上十分相似，且都在文坛享有极高的地位。其次结合前人对这两部著作的探讨，英语论文范文，先从主题意义对这两部小说分别进行略论，并加以比较探讨，找出这两部小说在主题意义上的差异。再次，英语论文，对两部著作的主要的象征意义进行略论以及对比探讨。本文旨在通过对两部著作的略论，对比，更深入的了解这两部情节及其相似的著作内在含义。

ABSTRACT
This paper first makes a brief introduction to Moby Dick and The Old Man and the Sea and points out that the two works bear similarity in their plots and they both enjoy high reputations. And then with the previous study concerned, the themes of the two novels are analyzed and made a comparison from perspectives and the conflict and the spirit. At last the major symbols of the two novels are analyzed and made a comparison from perspectives of the "fish" and the characters. This thesis intends to make a better understanding of the inner meaning of the two works through the analysis and comparison.
