Abstract:
This paper mainly investigates the differences of English film title’s translation between Mainland China Hong Kong and Taiwan. It analyzes the cultures and commercial values of film titles and compares the different methods of translation in the three regions.Through collecting materials, reading numerous literatures and designing several relevant charts, the paper comes to summarize many reasons for the differences of English film title’s translations, which can be fairly conducive to cultural communications among the three regions and more likely to reach an consensus in translation in the future.

本文主要是探讨英文电影片名在中国大陆、香港及港台地区的翻译异同。旨在发现英文电影片名翻译在两岸三地不同的翻译特点和三个地区之间在文化和商业价值进行比较略论。笔者根据收集资料，英语论文题目，阅读大量文献，编制相关表格略论得出关于两岸三地的英文电影片名翻译的一些不同的看法和总结出造成两岸三地电影片名翻译异同的原因，从而促进两岸三地更好的文化交流，英语论文，使得三个地区的翻译可以趋于一致化。

1. Introduction
1.1 Literature Review
Cultural communication between China and western countries becomes more and more frequent and extensive. The films from Hollywood get people’s flavor in China then numerous blockbusters are introduced. When referred to a film or movie, the title is its obvious label.Therefore, a good film title, not only attracting audience but also leaving them a deep impression, is extraordinary critical if people intend to achieve successful film distribution.
Many scholars provided some studies about the features of translation of film titles in mainland China Hong Kong and Taiwan respectively. Fang Xiaoyan (2017) put forward that literal translation is the most common way of English film title translation in mainland china. Liberal translation and revision are frequently used in Hong Kong.The translation in Taiwan commonly is in the form of liberal translation and partly keep the revision form, which is similar to that in Hong Kong and does not strictly follow the original form. |
