Abstract

With the rapid development of global economy as well as China’s accession to the WTO, English as a widely-accepted global language has become the most important communicative tool in the world. Although college students have put a good deal of effort into English learning, their speaking level is still not high. In order to change this situation,teachers have tried a lot of teaching theories. Suggestion theory is put forward by the Bulgarian psychiatrist-educator Georgi Lozanov in 1970s, focusing on how to deal with the relationship between mental potential and learning efficiency. Lozanov has claimed that by using this theory students can learn certain language approximately three to five times quicker than through conventional learning methods.
This paper concentrates on the study of application of the suggestion theory in college students’ oral English learning. It also proposes some strategies in improving the learning of oral English. To begin with, the paper introduces the research’s background, purposes, significance and organization of the paper. Chapter Two provides the literature review on suggestion theory, and previous studies on this field. Chapter Three analyzes the application of suggestion theory in college students’ oral English learning. Finally, a brief conclusion is drawn for the paper.

摘要

随着全球经济的快速发展以及中国加入世界贸易组织,英语作为全球广泛使用的一种语言,已经成为当今世界最重要的交流工具。尽管大学生付出很多精力投入到英语口语学习中去,结果依然不是很理想。为了改变这一近况,许多老师和学者尝试了很多教学理论暗示理论是由保加利亚心理教育学家乔治·洛扎诺夫于20世纪70年代提出创立的。该理论致力于如何处理心智潜能和学习效率之间的联系。洛扎诺夫曾经宣称应用暗示理论,学生学习语言的能力大约是借助传统学习措施的三至五倍。
本文主要探讨暗示理论在大学生英语口语学习中的运用,并且提出了一些口语学习的策略。论文首先介绍了探讨的背景、目的、意义和论文的结构等;第二章是文献综述,对暗示理论的相关内容进行简单论述;第三章略论了暗示理论在大学生英语口语学习过程中的运用;最后,将对论文内容进行简短总结。

That’s why more and more people decide to learn English with the aid of different methods. This phenomenon is even more popular in our country. Although we college students have put a good deal of effort into English learning, many students still fail to improve their oral English. Different teachers have tried a lot of teaching theories to change this bad situation. Suggestion theory, as a special type of teaching theories, has promoted the development of our education.
