1. Introduction
1.1 Current situation in Chinese L2 classroom
In recent years, with the development of society, people have found it more and more clearly that the traditional foreign language teaching mode (teacher-centeredness) cannot be qualified for the modern L2 teaching. The phenomenon that what the teacher says goes is criticized by many experts in the field of education. At the end of 1970s, people like O’neil and Numan pointed out the “student-centered” theory. That is, the students are the core of teaching process. Once the point of view was brought up, it was accepted by many people. After then, the teaching focus obviously turns from the teacher to the students. In China, the advanced teaching method has been adopted as the theoretical basis, and the teaching materials have been renewed under the student-centered theory. Even so, some problems still exist in the real teaching practice.
Nowadays, considering the teaching method of second language (L2), some problems still exist in language learning class in some areas of China. Influenced by the traditional pattern of education, which is called indoctrinating education, the host of class is the teacher, while not the students who are learning knowledge. What the students can do is just accepting passively whatever the teacher gives. |
