Abstract:
As the development of economic globalization, frequent cultural exchanges between China and western countries are boosted on a large scale. Movie, as a popular art with both artistic and commercial values becomes one of the influential mass media. With large quantities of English movies being introduced into China's entertainment market, more and more movie titles are translated into Chinese. Translation of English movie titles plays an important role in popularizing western culture. However, due to various historical and social reasons, the three regions of China's mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan have been keeping a triangular balance in English movie title translation, which offers people many different versions of translated titles. This thesis tries to compare characteristics of translation among the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan in detail with sufficient examples by exploring their different translation methods and analysing the social and cultural reasons for these differences. In the hope that it can encourage communication among China's three regions, the writer throws a light on what and how these differences happen in order to arouse more professionals to set foot in this field, thus together promote the development of China's movie title translation.

摘要:
随着经济全球化的步伐不断迈进,中西方文化交流日趋频繁。电影作为艺术与商业的载体,已经成为了作用深远的大众传媒之一。伴随着大量西方电影涌入中国的娱乐市场,英语论文题目,作为中西方文化交流一种媒介的电影译名已经变得尤为重要。然而,英语毕业论文,由于种种历史与社会原因,电影片名翻译在中国形成了三足鼎立之势。同样一部电影在大陆、香港以及台湾的译名各不相同。本文试图通过比较三地电影片名翻译的特点与问题以及各地所侧重的翻译策略来略论出导致三地翻译异同的原因,从而希望各地区能够加强交流、译出佳品,并为中国电影译名事业的规范与发展做出贡献。

1 Introduction
With the development of economic globalization, frequent cultural exchanges between China and western countries are boosted on a large scale. Consequently a lot of overseas movies find their way to get into the entertainment market of China's mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
As an audiovisual art, movie is one of the most influential mass media, its title translation follows and reflects people’s lives of the above three regions. It is a product of their cultures. For the Chinese audience, the translation of movie titles plays a significant role in cultural communication between China and western countries. It is through translation that Chinese audiences get the chance to understand and appreciate other countries' arts, cultures, people and ways of life.
