一、 as 引导时间状语从句as 可表示时间 “当……的时候” , 如:A s a young man , he jo ined the Eigh thRou te A rmy . (他在青年时代就加入了八路军。 )as 可引导时间状语从句, 在此类句中, 主句和从句的动作一般是同时发生的, 可译 “当……时” 或 “一边……一边” , 例如:1、 W ill you drop the let ter in the box asyou past the po st? (请你路过邮局时把这封信投进信箱, 好吗?)在此句中, 后者动作跟着前者动作而发生, as 从句带动主句, 从句的动影响现在时代替将来时。2、 A s the pup ils w alked a long the lake, they sang happ ily . (学生们一边沿着湖走,一边唱歌。 )主句和从句动作同时发生, 可都用过去时, 或过去进行时。例如:A s the sun ro se the fog dispersed . (太阳升起时雾气就散掉。 ) 二、 as 引导的原因状语从句as 可表示原因,“由于……” 、 “鉴于……” , 常表示用已经明显的事实作一种理由。例如:1、 A s he w as ill , I decided to go thereby myself . (由于他病了, 我决定独自去了。 )2、 A s the day w as f ine, decided togo on a t r i p. (由于天气好, 他们决定做一次短途的旅行。 ) 三、 as 引导让步状语从句as 引导让步状语从句时, 可表示 “虽然” 、“尽管” , 如:M uch as I adi m ire h is cou rage, I don’ tth ink he acted w isely . (我虽然佩服他的勇气, 但我认为他这样做是不聪明的。 )as 引导的这种让步状语从句语气比较强, 语体正规, 常用于书面语言, 从句常用倒装语序, 一般构成形式有以下三种:1、 “表语/ as/ 主语/ 系动词” , 这是一种最常用的形式, 其中的表语可由形容词、 名词或介词充当。如:( 1 ) Young as she is, she is veryexper ienced . (尽管她年轻, 但她很有经验。 )(2)Ch ild as he w as, he w hat w asthe r igh t th ing to do. (尽管他是个孩子, 但他却懂得应该做什么。 )(3)Crow ded as the restau ran t w as, theyt r ied to f ind a tab le . (虽然餐馆挤满了人, 他们还是试图找一个桌子。 )2、 “状语/ as/ 主语/ 谓语动词” , 在这一结构中的谓语动词一般用行为动词。如:( 1) Hard as he studied , he didn’ t getgood mark s in the exam inat i on. (他虽然很用功, 但考试成绩还是不好。 )(2)M uch as I like it , Iw ill no t buy it .(尽管我喜欢这个东西, 但我还是不买它。 )3、 “动词/ as/ 主语” , 在这一结构中, 主语后一般加上情态动词 may, m igh t, w ill,wou ld, can , cou ld 等, 句首的动词应该用动词原形。例如:( 1) T ry as I m igh t, I cou ldn’ t lif t thestone . (我使多大劲, 也搬不起这石头来。 )( 2 ) Search as they wou ld, they cou ldf ind no th ing in the hou se . (尽管他们在这房子里到处搜寻, 但他们仍找不到任何东西。 )在这一结构中, 如果让步状语从句中没有情态动词, 那么应该在从句的主语后加上动词do , does 或did。如:D ie as she did, her in sp irat i on lived on.(虽然她死了, 但她的感召力仍然存在。 )在这一结构中, 放在句首的动词如果是及物动词, 那么这个及物动词的宾语应该和动词一起放到as 前。如:Lo se money as I did , I go t a lo t ofexper ience . (钱虽丢了, 我却得到了不少经验。 )有时as 表示原因时也可用倒装语序, 这时应注意as 表示原因和表示让步的区别, 其辨别方式主要是根据句子的意义。例如:1、 Bu sy as is , she can’ t at tend themeet ing . (原因状语从句。因为她忙, 她不能出席会议。 )2、 Bu sy as she is, she wo rk s hard atEnglish. (让步状语从句。 虽然她忙, 她仍然刻苦学习英语。 )3、 Fast as he read , he f in ished the bookin t i me . (原因状语从句。因为他读得很快, 所以他及时的读完了这本书。 )4、 Fast as he read , he cou ld no t f in ishthe book in t i me . (让步状语从句。虽然他读得很快, 也没有及时读完这本书。 ) |
