商务英语教学近况及其教育质量建议

We can find the explanation about International Business English from the text materials of Cambridge Business English: International Business English is for business people who need to, or will soon need to, use English in their work. It may also be used by adult students who will be entering the business world at the end of their course of studies.
In the past decade, International Business English has played an important role in import and export trade in China, and it will still be vital to increase gross domestic product with Chinese foreign economic development, especially after China’s entry into World Trade Organization. Therefore, our country must train adult students who can use English well in business world in their future jobs, and then this training task becomes the main duty for universities and colleges having Business English major. Business English has been a major in our college for many years. It is my pleasure that I can be a teacher in this field and do what I can do. After nearly 10 months’ Business English teaching in our college, I would like to give two suggestions in the paper.
1. The current situation of Business English teaching in our college
Our college is a kind of profession technical college. Therefore, the major duty of our college is to train professional students who can use their knowledge in their jobs once they graduate. That means, they not only have to understand various theories about English knowledge in their minds, but also they have to master the abilities to do business with foreigners in English, such as they should use English to negotiate with partners and solve problems.
 It is obviously that doing business with customers in market to earn money is more important than just reciting and remembering the language's theories in class without using them. According to these basic requirements, our department chose the Cambridge Business English textbooks as our primary materials that combine language skills, which commonly we put it on the higher place, and business knowledge.
Besides the central text-books, we also use relative materials to improve students English listening, speaking and writing, as well as business professional textbooks in Chinese. There are generally two parts in every class in Business English course, including knowledge impartment and skill training, which give students chances to master knowledge points and exercise using them in simulative company. It has been proved by the fact that it is a suitable way to train Business English, and has been accepted by most major students.
2. The problems we are facing
2.1 Students have no business working experiences
To the new students in our college, most of them are directly graduated from their high schools in their hometown below 20. It is usual in China that majorities of students are took care of by their parents. They spend lots of their time studying and staying with their teachers and families. Therefore, they hardly have any knowledge about business and trade, and even more international trade; To second grade and three grade students, they do know business more, but they also lead their lives in reading and reciting, meanwhile they have less chances to enter companies and acquaint trade process and details directly.
