作为一个独立的,边缘交叉学科,第二语言习得(SLA)在20世纪60年代末和70年代初出现。其诞生的标志是紧急中介语理论,其中有超过30年的历史。近年来,SLA搜索领域已不断扩大,并不断更新的各种理论和学说。
As an independent, edge-crossed subject, Second Language Acquisition (SLA) arose in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The symbol of its birth is the emergency of interlanguage theory, which has a history of more than 30 years. In recent years, there search field of SLA has been expanded continuously, and various theories and doctrines have constantly updated. Besides, research methods and means haveincreasingly become scientific and diversified. Since the middle of 1980s, SLA researchhas started in China. The domestic research in this area has also experienced 20-yeardevelopment process. As SLA theories have been introduced into China constantly,many domestic linguistics and applied linguistics researchers have been given greatinspiration. Then SLA research in China began to transit from introduction andtransportation period from western theories gradually to the independent research andinnovation development phase. Among these ones, the study on English grammar rulesacquisition is one of the main study in language acquisitions. The various researches of English grammar acquisition have emerged one after another at home and abroad. However, the research of English non-predicate verb acquisition is limited. Non-predicate verb is one of the difficulties in English grammar. It is more complex, which brings about students’ varied acquisition. However, during my teaching in the college, I find that most of my students can do the multiple-choice better than the blank-filling. Besides, they can translate English sentences well into Chinese with anon-predicate verb in it, but they seldom use non-predicate verb to translate Chinese into English and writing, especially gerund and participle. Therefore, to explain andmake clear of this phenomenon, and offer some efficient methods to improve their acquisition, an empirical research is necessary. It shows great research value in teachingand learning area.

1.2 Research Rationale and Significance
Chinese foreign language learners’ learning process has their special problems, so itwill possess more important realistic significance to do SLA research in theenvironment of China (Dai Weidong, 2017). The present research is to understand andanalyses Chinese learners’ acquisition of non-predicate verb in various forms, and summarize its characteristics and regularity for teaching and learning thinking. For thisgrammar point, what have students actually learned? What is the detailed situation oftheir acquisition? And are there any differences among different levels? All theseproblems are waited to be dealt with and worthy of further discussion and research. Ifthe learner’s grammar acquisition regularity of this one can be clarified, our teachingwill be inevitably more targeted. Thus, the present research will provide some Referencefor SLA, but also can bring certain empirical and theoretical basis for our Englishresearchers and learners.
