With the raising status of Korean economy, the success of Korean Japan World cups and the influence of "Korean wave," so increases the number of overseas students interested to learn Korean, and the purpose of their learning Korean becomes more diverse. Especially those who learn Korean for their study at University dramatically increased recently.
But considering the increased number of overseas students, studies on Korean Language teaching lack so that more detailed and deep studies are actually needed.
Many overseas students, in fact, enter Korean Universities and learn Korean for their major studies, but in many cases, they are having hard time to catch up with their majors because of their lack of confidence in Korean.
This investigation, therefore, suggested for those who learn Korean for their study at University to acquire basic Koran vocabulary in preparation for the reading of their majors. And to help overseas students complete their study at University, it is considered necessary to have good Korean reading textbooks, so for that, needs investigation was carried out for the overseas students and the findings are that the most difficult study for the overseas students was their majors and it was because of their incompetence in Korean language. And the two functions of Korean language that they use the most frequently but yet consider the most difficult parts in their major classes were reading comprehension and listening. And the largest number of overseas students was business majors and they had more difficulties than other majors.
This investigation, therefore, was to help develop Korean reading textbook for business major overseas students who occupy the biggest part of overseas students learning Korean for their major at University and have hard time with their major.
To this end, the direction for the development of Korean reading textbook was set and essential vocabulary for their major was selected, and the composition of whole units and individual units were presented together with the illustration of one real example of a unit.
Even though it stopped short of verification, setting the direction and the composition of units, it is meaningful that Korean reading textbook was developed especially for overseas students majoring in business studies.
