The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of PLM implementation on quality management and business performance, based on user activity cycle. In order to verify the research hypotheses presented in this study, we us ed the questionnaire survey method. The survey was conducted on 150 companies that have been using PLM(or PDM) for more than one year. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, major activities prior to the implementation of PLM were composed of advance preparation and professional team; important activities during the implementation of PLM include internal user participation and information system development project management; and subsequent activities after the implementation of PLM were external user acceptance, post project management and performance evaluation. Second, activities prior to, during, and after PLM implementation have positive effects on the system usage in operations. Third, activities prior to PLM implementation had positive effects on activities during the system implementation, which in turns had positive effects on the post-implementation activities. Fourth, PLM usage in operations have positive effects on the improvement of organizational culture and quality. Fifth, organizational culture improvement also impacts the quality improvement and customer satisfaction. Quality improvement also has positive effects on customer satisfaction.
