In the 21st century, people's values are changing as the era evolves. This leads to a fusion of different fields of expertise and affects modern humans' ways of thinking. Ultimately, their lifestyles and fashion are shifting. Within this change, ergonomic designs which are founded upon human-centered rational and integrated beliefs are developing quickly along with the latest technologies such as utilizing new fabrics and human body-considered design. To add, these designs inspire modern designers and produce innovative designs when appropriately mixed with different areas. Thus, research is necessary in the field of fashion designs about human technological fashion designs that reflect ergonomics characteristics. This particular research seeks to study the definition and characteristics of ergonomics, which have been growing quickly in the fashion design industry and especially the integrated thinking. To achieve this, based on s and preceding researches related to ergonomics, the concept of ergonomics often confused with other terms such as ergonomics, human factors, human engineering, physical ergonomics etc. is established, and the characteristics of ergonomics is classified in terms of product design. Also, the history and development of ergonomics designs, as well as their real application case examples were put together. Information and articles from fashion websites were collected to derive the concept and characteristics of fashion design applied with ergonomics by analyzing cases where ergonomics is used in the information era since the year 2000. The researched materials were divided into four sections after analyzing the sentences with regards to the theories behind them: efficiency, usability, functionality, and safety. To establish an analyzing criteria, In order to establish a standard for content analysis in accordance with the characteristics of ergonomics, Textom's refining tool, which is a big-data program for efficiently analyzing the frequency of words used in an abundant amount of data, was used to conduct an analysis by deriving the top 5 keywords in frequency in the categorized data. This has significance in systematically searching concepts through the connection with fashion design as an actually worn product, leaping the boundaries of ergonomics as a primary science, and providing a foundation for development for designing ergonomics fashion that can satisfy the needs in accordance with the modern people's aesthetic values and changes in lifestyles. The following conclusions were deducted. Firstly, ergonomics is a field that researches human characteristics when designing products or environments. The objective is to produce a product that works for the people that regards humans' physical, psychological, emotional, social cultural functions. The characteristics of human technology could be classified into efficiency, usability, functionality, and safety. Secondly, ergonomic design requires product designing that considers the human-centered thinking process due to the enhancement of human dignity the changes in the workers' concept of labor, and so has represented itself in a form combining science and design. Ergonomics design has expanded from the application in military products after the Second World War, and is developing from a research on the characteristics of the human body to human-centered design considering the sensibility and comprehensive characteristics. Thirdly, information and news articles from professional fashion internet sites were classified by the four characteristics, and five key words were drew out for each characteristic: For efficiency they were 'design, pattern, activity, fabric/material, line,' usability 'design, use, product, layout, style,' functionality 'fabric/material, design, functionality, line, use,' safety 'application, layout, product, design, children.' The key word "design" was common for all the four characteristics. Accordingly, it could be known that design was the method in which ergonomics showed its different characteristics. Through analyzing the five most commonly used key words, ergonomic designs that primarily focused on efficiency tried to incorporate activity and movement when designing. This was mostly shown in sports wears for exercises. For usability, the core characteristic was universal designs which enable comfortable uses. The characteristic was shown through simple forms in office supplies or furniture such as chairs and beds. Functionality was important when designing electronic devices that use various techniques, high-tech smart wears, and functional clothing. The focus was on scientific designs that satisfied customers with more than two functions. Lastly, designs for safety embodied humans' bodies. Their objective is to preserve humans from illness or danger through the use of convenient and safe products. Ultimately, the designs differed for each of the characteristics. Fourthly, the ergonomic designs in the information and articles provided by fashion websites all commonly showed a single theme: factoring in humans' various characteristics for safe usability and wearability when designing. It could be said that fashion designs for ergonomics characteristics is a field of applied designs for which people wear that incorporates people's physical, psychological, and emotional characteristics into the fashion that humans wear. The objective is to enhance efficiency, functionality, and safety. Those ergonomics fashion designs of efficiency factor in change in pattern for movement or use of light materials for activity. Futuristic designs were shown for the functionality factor, through the use of advanced materials combined with cutting edge technologies and systematic lines. For those of safety, the designs were somewhat of protective clothing that considers preservation of the human body as well as their emotions. Therefore, research of ergonomics fashion designs need to be expanded, especially factoring in the different bodily characteristics of children, the elderly, and the disabled. Plus, development of human technological fashion designs that seeks a comfortable and functional lifestyle is demanded. This could be reached by applying humans' intellectual characteristics through technological advances in areas of 3D scanners and printing, development of advanced materials, fusion of machinery and the blending of the various fields of study. In addition, this is fashion design for humans that not only protects the human body from dangerous factors by reflecting the sensibility of humans, but also satisfies the insides of the person who wears it by reflecting the sensibilities of the modern people who wants to be protected from uncertainties of the future and the rapidly changing environments. In conclusion, the keyword 'design' was one of the most frequently spoken common in all the characteristics of ergonomics shown in fashion websites. As a result of analyzing by the top 5 keywords of each characteristic, ergonomic design showed differences in characteristics where regarding various characteristics of the user and wearer, efficiency showed designs in new forms considering human movement, and functionality wise, a scientific design that satisfied two or more practical functions, and regarding safety, designs considering the human body in order to protect from diseases or danger were shown. Ergonomic fashion design in accordance with the characteristics of ergonomics through these results showed that it is an applied science that enhances the efficiency, functionality, and safety considering the body, intelligence, and sensibility of humans by being applied to fashion. This study is expected to help following researches of ergonomic fashion design considering human sensibility, and hopes that ergonomic fashion design will be developed furthermore to satisfy the aesthetic values and reflect the rapidly changing modern day lifestyles.
