A nail art market is now growing very swiftly in the beauty business circles such as hair and make-up. As the total fashion for satisfying an individual's aesthetic desire and expressing personality, the fashion and the nail art have a close relationship. However, there is nonexistence in a previous research on design with the integration of fashion trend and nail art. Thus, this study analyzed fashion design in the upcoming 2017 and developed the originative and creative nail design according to this. This study elicited the fashion-trend key words, which often appeared in collection by each country with S/S, F/W season in London, New York, Milan and Paris for 2017 based on the Pret-A-Porte collection, which proceeds with leading fashion trend in the whole world, selected 5 designers who stand for the key words, and analyzed silhouette, material, color and detail. And the aim was to develop totally 10 nail design works through referring to Kim Hye-gyeong(2011)'s book titled ‘fashion trend and image,’ through connecting it to the fashion-trend key words, which were already analyzed in a theme by each part, and then through selecting two themes by part. Prior to analyzing the specific fashion trend, it confirmed a concept & history, and its expression technique in nail art, which can become the theoretical background of this study. As the nail art is one field of beauty care, which has long history, not a timely phenomenon, it is being extended an artistic concept today and is integrated into the quickly-changing fashion trend, thereby being confirmed the potentiality available for being developed into diverse forms. This is being developed through various expression techniques such as hand painting, design sculpture, rhinestone, marble, folk art, 2D Art, 3D Art, mix media, dangle, striping tape, water decal, gel system, acrylic system, which are the expression techniques of being generally performed. A dictionary definition in fashion trend implies various meanings such as style, habit, form, custom and vogue, and signifies what makes, action and behavior. The implication on this involves the background and even its phenomenon, which had been prevailed the corresponding costume, merely as well as attire itself. This leads to being available for reading even a flow of a value that was pursued by people who had proceeded with living in the times. Fashion trend, which has this meaning, is mass-producing diverse trend key words every year by season through the fashion collection. Accordingly, this study has a very important meaning in analyzing trend and drawing key words through the fashion trend. In London during the S/S season for 2017, there were romantic, traditional cut-out, cubism, futurism, military look, and vertical stripe. In New York, there were romantic, tropical, infra apparel, slouch look, retro, deconstruction, and stripe. In Milan, there were infra apparel, athleisure, retro, military look, and see-through. In Paris, there were infra apparel, zen, retro in the 70s·80s, and see-through. In London during the F/W season for 2017, there were round shoulder, velvet, collar, romantic, multi-slit, collage, and cut-out. In New York, there were velvet, fur, vintage, and PVC. In Milan, there were fantastic, traditional, infra apparel, and ethnic. In Paris, there were athleisure look, victoria style, mannish, primitive, infra apparel, and cape. It elicited these main key words of fashion trend in 2017 and 10 themes with high relevancy among the themes, which were mentioned in Kim Hye-gyeong(2011)'s book titled 'fashion trend and image.' Totally 10 pieces by 1 piece in each thematic work were made by applying this to the development in the nail art design. The themes, which are connected to fashion trend in 2017, were set to be totally 10 kinds such as traditional, vintage, ethnic, zen, primitive, traditional, deconstruction, infra, romantic, and fantastic. Based on this, totally 10 pieces of the nail design works were developed. Work Ⅰ had a theme as traditional, which is a sub-concept of classic in costume. The hound tooth check and the tartan check, which are much used as a chief pattern, were given a change in size with water decal, which is one of the nail expression technique. As the 2D art expression technique, the tartan check with a sense of volume was expressed by mixing gel with acrylic. Work Ⅱ had a theme as vintage. Vintage has two meanings such as a meaning of the recycled fashion, which literally brings a product in the past and uses it in modern fashion, and a meaning of the regenerated design, which re-analyzes it modernly with applying a style in the specific age of the past. In the utilization of vintage materials, there are denim, washing technique, beads, knitting, a beaded handbag, patchwork, and floral embroidery. The washed denim art was made by using gel system. A feeling of the ripped jeans was expressed by washing the denim cloth in order to possibly give a cubic effect over it. Work Ⅲ had a theme as ethnic in a racial & national style. The countries, which are mainly shown an ethnic feeling, include the middle and near East region, the culture in Inca civilization of Central and South America, India & Indonesia in central Asia, China, Korea and Japan in Far East Asia. A work was developed by gaining inspiration from Japan's kimono and China's Qipao out of this. A feeling of a material in kimono style was expressed by using nail polish. Obi belt was expressed by using a string. The embroidery in Qipao was expressed by using the hand-painting technique. A cotton knot was represented by using a string. Also, mother-of-pearl was utilized that is often used in the Eastern style. Work Ⅳ had a theme as zen, which is characterized by the combination of the oriental thought and the minimalism element. Zen style includes oriental image as well, but can be seen even an oriental color. Silk, gel system, and water decal were used. A feeling of ink stick in calligraphy was represented by using gel polish through borrowing orchid and bamboo out of Sagunja(四君子) in the East. A calligraphic feeling was added by using the water decal in Chinese character. The Oriental style was rendered by using mother-of-pearl. Work Ⅴ had a theme as primitive, which implies a primitive image. Primitive is characterized by color as if being old and tarnished and is represented by a hieroglyphic character or abstract & geometrical pattern in Egypt. The majority is what is made with a material in nature. Plumage jewellery and others are typical. Hand painting was made by utilizing water decal with borrowing the abstract pattern. A feather, which is used as a subsidiary material of clothing, was applied. A primitive feeling was added by using velvet powder. Hand painting, 2D art, water decal, stone art expression techniques were used. Work Ⅵ had a theme as tropical. Bold and intensive tone, which is color in tropical regions, was used. A pattern had a motive as a large leaf or a floral pattern and as a parrot and a flamingo, which are birds in the tropics. Hand painting and 2D art expression techniques were used. Work Ⅶ had a theme as deconstruction. The deconstruction involves even the power of maintaining along with the simple dismantlement based on a philosophical theory as saying of proceeding with de-constructing the existing definition and concept. Damage, tearing, drilling, and exaggeration, which are the expression techniques of deconstruction, were borrowed. A form of the exaggerated and broken nail was expressed in the form of tearing, drilling, damaging and making a groove with escaping from a form of the so-called nail. Pale colors in black, gray and white were used. Work Ⅷ had a theme as infra apparel, which shows the phenomenon of the underwear outfit. As infra apparel is the most comprehensive concept, it implies a general term of all the basic clothes, which are put in the outer clothing. A dimensional feeling of underwear was given with the 2D expression technique applying builder gel to bra, pants, and corset. Lace pattern available for adding a feeling of underwear was made the hand painting by borrowing a pattern of lace, which is a typical material of infra apparel. Work Ⅸ had a theme as romantic. There are diverse details such as embodying romantic-affluent floral pattern or delicate color, ribbon · frill · ruffle · shirring. 5 colors in red, purple, yellow, pink, and salmon pink were used by having a rose as a motive. A rose was expressed with 3D art by using acrylic system. Romanticism was added by using pearl stone. Work Ⅹ had a theme as fantastic, which is adjective of fantasy, as a meaning of illusion. Fantastic clothing is emphasized the combination of colors rather than style or design. A color was used purple, pink, white, gold and silver. White gel was put over the volume-based expression by using glitter gel. Swarovski stone, which glitters much more brilliantly than cubic, was used. This work focused on color, and a big and glittering feeling. This study was analyzed fashion trend in 2017 and developed totally 10 pieces of the nail art design with the integration of this, thereby having been available for proving that the nail art is one genre that has a close relationship with fashion, as the total fashion for satisfying an individual's aesthetic desire and expressing personality.
