The goal of this study is to search an effect of dictogloss in Korean teaching on writing proficiency improvement of basic level of female marriage immigrants in Vietnam. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted for female marriage immigrants before immigration to Korea at ○○ culture center in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Experiment was divided as two groups; normal listening teaching was conducted in control group and dictogloss teaching was conducted in test group. Experiment was conducted for 9 times from September to October 2016 and ex ante-ex post writing proficiency evaluation results of learners were analyzed. Results of analysis were as follows. First, there was no statistical significance between groups in ex ante-ex post writing evaluations. However, test group showed statistical significance in ex ante-ex post writing evaluations, where as control group showed no statistical significance. Second, test group showed statistical significance in every field, especially the greatest significance in grammar field. However, control group showed no statistical significance in every field. Third, question type comparison was analyzed and two groups showed statistical significance in writing after looking picture type question. Fourth, in learner level analysis, statistical significance appeared in high level learners' writing proficiency in both groups. For middle level learners, test group showed statistical significance where as control group showed no statistical significance. For low level learners in both groups, there was no statistical significance. Field analysis showed that high level learners in test group showed statistical significance in every field and high level learners in control group showed statistical significance only in grammar and relevance. Middle level learners in test group showed statistical significance in all fields except organization. Fifth, in the survey asking effect of dictogloss on learning attitude, several learners showed positive response in every field. Learners mostly thought that dictogloss activity was helpful in writing correctness and relevance of vocabulary and expression as well as proficiency of other linguistic functions. Learners showed highly positive response toward cooperative learning. It was useful because learners could make sentences better, learning process was more interesting and other linguistic functions improved through cooperative learning with colleague learners. Accordingly, teaching with dictogloss activities has positive effect on writing proficiency of basic level of female marriage immigrants in Vietnam. and their learning attitude as well, dictogloss activities can be used actively in writing education. Proposals as follows can be made based on the aforementioned results for teaching with dictogloss activities can be applied to writing proficiency improvement of basic level of female marriage immigrants in Vietnam. First, warm-up activities such as enough explanation for dictogloss activity or dictation of keywords beforehand are required. Second, proper meaning negotiation and visual input material presentation are needed for learners' listening and understanding. Third, enough prior practice of new grammar and vocabulary of different sound and form is required. Fourth, activity time and frequency are required to be regulated to use dictogloss activity continuously within the curriculum. It is meaningful that this study conducted for basic level of female marriage immigrants in Vietnam before immigration to Korea and proved that dictogloss can be used as one of learner-centered effective teaching methods in surrounding such as Vietnam and its effectiveness.
