This study proposes a model for a learner's dictionary of Korean specifically designed for English speakers learning elementary Korean. Commonly used Korean-English dictionaries are designed for Koreans learning English and do not provide necessary information for learning Korean such as verb conjugations, pronunciation, sentence patterns, and subtle differences in meaning of similar words. Sample noun, particle, conjugated verb and verb ending entries are presented in the study. The examples of noun and particle entries provide detailed information on differences in meaning and use. The inclusion of conjugated verb forms as separate entries is designed to help elementary learners of Korean use a Korean dictionary more effectively. The proposed model of Korean-English dictionary has been supported by a survey conducted for this study. According to the results, the majority of the survey respondents would prefer a comprehensive Korean dictionary with English translations, conjugated forms as separate entries, a limited number of definitions for each entry, and information on subtle differences in meaning and use of similar words. ,韩语论文,韩语论文 |
