Korean language education to utilize Korean language has great value in that it enables the learning of language and culture at the same time for learners to try to learn Korean language and Korean culture. In the respect, all sympathize for the necessity of Korean language education to utilize literature, but it can be said that concrete category or contents systematic. for it is very insufficient.
In this real situation, in case that the learner meets with literary work which is not suitable for real power of Korean language, it is involving risk to lose will for learning of Korean language.
Thus, in case of choosing literature education for Korean language user, establishment of state to be systematic and clear than any other field will have to be preceded.
In this study, I try to handle real parts to be necessary for Korean language education to utilize literary work. The direction may be classified into 2 kinds greatly. Then, one is to make text into rank, and another is fixing of teaching chief-point.
There was the discussion of a certain degree for making text of Korean language education to utilize literature into rank, but question for the propriety is not being stopped. As for this, that standard for text and social mutual agreement for rank nature were not tried may be counted as the greatest cause.
In this discussion, I tried to choose method to quote current national language curriculum which can be referred to as the result material of such social mutual agreement.
As for the subject of this study, I established adult students studying abroad who are preliminary university students(graduate school students) to learn Korean language for the purpose of going on to university as study subject.
In case of students studying abroad, as for the studying goal of Korean language, literature ability to be able to understand and appreciate reading text or literature made with Korean language and to be able to write creative writing as well as language ability and sociocultural ability is necessary. Improving literature as language, literature as culture, and literature as literature itself through Korean language education to utilize literary work for these may foster reading related to diverse cultural subjects or major to get to meet in university life or understanding for literary work and may improve the integrated ability of Korean language education such as speaking of announcement and discussion etc. or ability to be able to write and thesis etc.
If making literature as language data is linked to diverse and interesting language activity and cultural activity of period or place etc. to be background of work and they understand and appreciate literature as literature itself and feel deep emotion, study and interest for Korean literature will be help for Korean life and may be base knowledge for understanding university lessons.
In this thesis, I chose the work to be proper for Korean language education centering around the novel of the 7th national language textbook, established the education goal of Korean language for foreigners on the basis of system and goal of education contents of Korean subject and tried to compose the plan for real teaching-learning.
First, in the introduction of chapter 1, I examined existing study on the basis of necessity and goal of this study and mentioned the range and method of study.
In the chapter 2, I will examine the 7th national language curriculum to be the basic data of this discussion. Out of it, I examined the achievement standard of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and literary education contents of national language curriculum and extracted modern novel text being recorded from textbook of the 5th grade in primary school that novel appears on a full scale and to textbook of the 1st grade in highschool.
In the chapter 3, I chose the work to be suitable for Korean language education out of modern novel text extracted from chapter 2. As for choice standard, I chose the work that application is high as language data, as culture data, and literature data to correspond with this study finally, on the basis of standard being discussed by existing education researcher of Korean language. Next, I did the work to make into rank by grade which is suitable for Korean language education on the basis of chosen novel text.
And, I selected contents system to be necessary for Korean language education out of education contents of national language curriculum which was examined in preceding chapter by comparing with goal of Korean language education.
In the chapter 4, I tried to establish contents of language education, contents of literature education, and contents of culture education after choosing by 1 volume from the works of primary grade, intermediate grade and high-grade, and tried to compose real unit.
With primary grade works, I composed study contents, so that it may be help to Korean classroom culture and Korean life for primary grade learners who started life in Korea through our distorted hero.
In intermediate grade work, [field flower in memory], we will be able to have time to try to think which influence period background has on work character and how Korean society changed due to war with learners, through the story of Myoung-sun who died after living like field flower due to Korean Civil War.
High-grade work, [Home of the Woman] may be referred to as work on extension of intermediate grade work, [Field Flower in Memory]. Period background of this work is up to now via Korean Civil War from compulsory occupancy of Japanese Imperialism. This work is good material as culture education as well as language education for Korean language learners, as historical situation and cultural element of Korea Harmonize.
