【摘要】：“德”作为《道德经》中一个重要的哲学概念，蕴含着丰富的内涵，其英译也存在颇多争议。从文化视角来看，翻译并不仅仅是简单的文字转换，更是特定的文化、社会和个人意识的交融。翻译探讨文化学派的代表，安德烈·勒菲弗尔也着眼于翻译中文化系统的探讨，并提出了意识形态理论，德语专业论文，德语论文网站，将其理解为被某一特定社会和时期接受的见解和看法所形成的概念网格。本文借助这一理论来探寻《道德经》中“德”的翻译，揭示不同译本所反映出的不同的文化和社会特征以及译者的倾向性。
本文首先综述了《道德经》的英译本及其相关探讨成果，进而提出本探讨的意义和措施。然后略论其理论基础，即意识形态理论。鉴于对意识形态理论可能存在的不同解析，此处着重说明本文选用该理论的中性意义作为理论支撑。此外又对“德”的内涵进行阐释，并总结出詹姆士·理雅各，亚瑟·韦利，林语堂和辜正坤四个译本中“德”的译法，将其分为七类来讨论。最后应用意识形态理论，阐释文化、社会和个人三个方面的意识形态对译者及其译本的作用。
意识形态作用整个翻译过程，从译者对原文的解读，到用贴切的目标语表述，以及对读者接受的考虑。在翻译“德”这一哲学概念时，由于文化，社会和个人意识的共同影响，四位译者的译本都有其独特性，如理雅各着眼于利用关键字、词来深入阐述，韦利偏重于使译文通俗易懂,林语堂尝试以庄解老，辜正坤则充分展示古汉语的特点并借鉴当前读者比较认可的译法。这些独特性不仅体现出了中国传统文化深厚内涵及其翻译的丰富性，也为典籍翻译提供新的思路。
