The Zen thought pursues in the harmonious and united realm between human and nature, and aims to achieve a plain and tranquil mood, while the simple, natural and pure forms expressed in its design coincide with western design's minimalism.While the modern fashion is oriented by the western style, Japan's oriental beauty reveals its unique style in the modern world. Also, various cognition and development of the Zen thought emerge in China and Korea, where the traditional culture base is Buddhism. This aims to describe the Zen's concept and background via the document research and argumentative investigation, and to obtain the beauty of modeling via the analysis on the Zen style's fashionable modeling figures of minimalism reflected in the fashion collections. Moreover, the fashionable design works of minimalism are fabricated, which reflect the Zen thought. Its significance lies in the mastery of fashionable design figures of the minimalism reflecting the Zen thought, based on which Chinese fashionable designs featured in Zen style can be developed and utilized flexibly via comprehending the oriental beauty embodied in Japan's beauty, thus to look forward to the contribution made by China's fashion towards the globalization. Major forms of designs with the Zen style include the imitations to monks' costumes, which are loose and fabricated via linear or flat tailoring, with the top flies covering on both left and right sides.Their colors range from black, white and grey to tawny and cyanotic, with natural materials adopted. No decorations and no colors are available, which embodies the main characteristic of designs with the Zen style. This research, upon the obtainment of that beauty of modeling by virtue of researches on documents concerning the Zen thought and artistry as well as the empirical analysis on fashionable works of the minimalism reflecting the Zen thought, aims to achieve the flexible fabrication and design of fashionable works according to relevant results.Research on documents mainly focuses on the analysis of data, such as domestic and abroad monographs, academic journals, academic dissertations and newss. By virtue of researches targeting the comparison of the Zen thought's background, modeling artistry, and various features of Zen paintings, tea cups and garden art works in China, Korea and Japan, the expression method and skill of Zen thought in China are concluded. For the analysis on fashionable designs of the minimalism reflecting the Zen thought, those design works of 2016 f/w collections are selected. The expert groups have selected 161 sets of fashionable designs (from 38 brands) of the minimalism reflecting the Zen thought. Comparisons of Zen style's profiles & items and colors are performed to these designs, together with analyses on those features embodied in fabrics & textures and in patterns. In multiple items, the fashion embodied in the Zen style lies in the flat H style (the most widely used profile), for which the linear tailoring is adopted, with no emphasis on slim figures and no expression of genders. In terms of colors, black, white and grey prevail, and other colors with low saturation are also adopted. What's special is that in the fashionable designs of Zen style in 2016 F/W, a few bright-colored hues obtained in the nature are included, together with fluorescent colors full of modern sense. As usual, cotton, hemp and silk wool (or those with familiar textures) are adopted as major fabrics. Patterns are reduced, with natural or simple geometric patterns prevailing, and certain patterns presenting the texture's beauty emerge. As for the design of decorations, simple, flat or geometric designs are still in the majority, with some elements of oriental costumes added to reveal the poverty features. Simple decorations and patterns as well as a few colors with high brightness occur in fashionable designs of the Zen style in 2016 F/W, with earrings, hats and bags included to present the Zen style by adoption of more elements. Upon the above researches, multiple aesthetics features are revealed in fashionable designs of the Zen style, which include, via the collection and summary, 5 aspects, namely the nature, abstinence, poverty, uniqueness and modernism abstinence. Moreover, with reference to aesthetic features, the original beauty of modeling is combined with Chinese traditional patterns and elements to create the image full of Chinese style, under which the designs of works with a Zen-style theme of Chinese windows have been planned, fabricated and completed. Inspired by Chinese traditional windows, through which the natural scenes can be seen, the harmony and unity between human and nature advocated by the Zen thought can be presented. Designs are developed by splicing various fabrics, with skills of digital printing and embroidery added, while patterns are developed and researched by combining Chinese traditional patterns and characters. The flat H style fabricated by the linear tailoring is adopted as the major profile, while grey and white are adopted as major hues, since their inclusiveness is higher enough to weaken the contrast. The cool dark navy is added, with the designed patterns hidden inside pleats and visible during walking, thus to express the mysterious spirit world of the Zen thought. The concept for the Zen-style designs is no longer featured in the colorlessness and nondecoration, as a conclusion obtained from the analysis to modern Zen-style fashions, which are natural and colorful with simple decorations. The Zen thought's unity means that the Zen thought has no absolute and inclusive aesthetic features of the uniqueness aesthetics, which also coincides with the modern eastern and western aesthetic concepts. The design of Chinese traditional patterns and relevant fabrication of costumes, as well as the locations and colors of patterns, have affected the Zen-style designs. By virtue of researches described in this , various expressions of the Zen thought in China, Korea and Japan have been found, together with expressions of Chinese traditional patterns upon the comprehension of the Zen thought. What's more, its own designs have achieved higher development, with new design and embroidery skills of traditional patterns acquired during the fabrication of Zen-style costumes, and more inspirations have been obtained for the future researches on fashionable works.
