The positive result of this study will help the children to develop their self-efficacy and resilience through free emotional expression, accordingly they can establish harmonized character and positive self-image. The experimental group of this study consists seven elementary school students in multi-cultural families who are belong to regional children center of Ulsan. The students are explained about the contents and procedure of the study and agreed to participate in the program. Another four elementary school students of regional children center in Ulsan and three elementary school students in Busan are selected as a control group. The program is composed of 10 sessions. Each session ran 80 minutes and carried out twice a week. During the same period, there was no treatment applied to the control group. Tests to measure participants' self-efficacy, emotional expression and resilience were performed before and after the program in order to verify the effectiveness of the program. Covariance (ANCOVA) was used as a statistical method to verify the hypothesis of the study and SPSS / WIN 21.0 was employed for statistical treatment on the results. To supplement the limitations on the reliability of the quantitative results of the statistical verification, a qualitative analysis was combined including participants' presentations, art pieces, and assessment s on the respective sessions. The results of this study are as follow: First, the experimental group who participated in the Food Art Therapy program changed their self-efficacy further than the control group who did not participate in the program. Second, the experimental group improved emotional expression ability more than the control group. Third, the experimental group improved resilience more than the control group. Considering the result of this study, the Food Art Therapy program seems effective in improving self-efficacy, emotional expression, and resilience of elementary school students in multi-cultural families. By designing the Food Art Therapy program for the elementary school students of multi-cultural families considering their difficulties from the bicultural background and discriminations, the program will help the students to improve their self-efficacy, to express their emotions properly, and to enhance their resilience to wisely cope with the adverse situation.
